What is the use of bringing the extinct species here in India again without preserving the grasslands? All the remaining grasslands are turning into agricultural lands or industrial parks. First we need to protect Grasslands. Then should focus on Critically endangered india species like Great indian bustards.

I think they are trying the convince the government to invest more money and therefore it is necessary for them to attribute all casualties to management error and not any other resettlement issue. Its millions of dollars in there pockets if they can convince additional investment. Not to mention demanding access to more forest locations where all sorts of illegal and nefarious activities can be carried out in the guise of cheetah rehabilitation.

Extremely well said, Mr Jhala!! You are an institution in your subject, no less!! We are always in agreement with you!! Now my points!! 1. Such a big exercise was done with years of planning? So where did the planning fail?? Points to that - 1A) Stress for animals, is different from humans, you will also agree on this, right?? Did you miss it?? 1B) the question of the fur coat on an African Cheetah, in the southern Hemisphere, should not have been a thing that scientists could miss out!! How could you, miss it out?? You are an expert in the subject, how could you miss the coat issue, and this is not related to Modiji, you should have equated your experience in a local train with unreserved seating, with what the wild Cheetahs would have faced, you are not going there, thay are coming here, so here in lies the blame!! We really, as collective Indians, don't think forward, always!! I am sorry to say that this is not the way to progress on reintroduction of a foreign species, the fur coat was one of the basics!! How could you survive a jungle in India, with safari suits?? Could you?? When that's not the case, blaming diseases etc won't help, Sir!! Please really think, because each of these animals are equivalent to 10 humans, for they cost tax payer money!! If you could not think that their coat issue will make their Collaring problematic, you need to go back to the drawing boards, so please, instead of being apologetic, please put your best foot forward!!

Thank you for the update. I have a special love for these delicate animals.. often completely misunderstood by most people as vicious predators, which they are not. I still remember when I was in class 9 and sited Cheetahs as extinct animal in India in my tuition and everybody started laughing...because people didn't even know the difference between Leopard and Cheetah, the misunderstanding further enhanced by the fact that my native language(bengali), the leopards are called CheetaBagh. Of course, the very next day I brought in some big book to the class in an effort to prove what I said the other day, and this time even though nobody laughed, nobody took it seriously enough either. That's the day I realized most people are sheeple.

only reason for importing cheetahs is that modi was not willing to give lions to MP. Gujarat is a lion state. Kuno is very suitable for lions as it is very similar to Gir in terms of terrain and habitat. Also a new gene pool for lions would have been created. If anything happens to gir lions population then species can be saved.
