Fab video, Do you do your own template for the sticky flock if so may I ask what program you are using to do it. Or do you buy the rhinestones designs? I'm having a go at designing my own but any tips would be great.
What is the thickness of the flock paper in mm? please reply.
@PrintingGeek3 жыл бұрын
I am not sure. Maybe 1mm. Is just a standard flock htv for printing t-shirts.

how much for the rhinestones, transfer papers/sticky flock, and all that? ask my wife and she could tell you, lol, but you'll notice that he starts off with a plotter/cutter to cut the holes for the rhinestones to set it. then you'll note at the end where he uses a heat press. for those two pieces of equipment it's kind of one of those 'how much do you want to spend' deals. for a hobbyist wanting to take it to the next level or a screenprinter interested in testing the water, but not wanting to spend a ton of money (why a screenprinter wouldn't already have a heat press is kind of beyond me, lol), you could pick a cheap heat press up for, say, $300. cutter/plotters can be ridiculously expensive, so you have your hobbyists out there that goes with a cricut, which i think are under $200. a cricut isn't a professional machine, though, so you might expect to go up to $1500 for a *real* plotter/cutter (or over two grand for a nice roland). or you may get lucky and find a refurbished model from a site like uscutter like we did. it depends on your budget and how much you plan on spending. now, since my wife and i own a trophy/screenprinting shop, this isn't going to be a hobby for us. that's why she recently bought $1500 worth of professional grade software to do these things, but that's meant to be on a more, ah, epic scale, lol. of course you don't need that software, but you're going to spend an inordinate amount of time without some software to help out. you might as well set them by hand. :) she's taken classes recently at the trade show, and now she's basically just going over the software when our limited time permits. so, how much money... and how much time. it would help if you have some kind of background in photoshop, corel and/or illustrator so you have a feel for the software. otherwise you'll have some tutorials to watch and just have to play around with it. :) are you wanting a set-up that actually will make you money? that is, real equipment like he has? or do you want to try a cricut and iron on and see if you can dredge up enough business to justify stepping up your game?
@ExposedRoot8 жыл бұрын
Dude....do your own research. Lazy!!!
@ryanbarker52178 жыл бұрын
ExposedRoot it's a fair question. asking questions is research, wouldn't you say? :) some of us are happy to help, and research isn't exactly always easy for these things as you can get a wild range of products and prices even if you can get pricing without asking companies for quotes to begin with. we're just getting into it and finding that our plotter/cutter just won't fit the bill for larger designs. as it is, when we cut flock we're having to pull out each and every dot with tweezers. that's no easy feat even for designs with a few hundred dots, and i'm not looking forward to ones where we have 1200-1500 stones, which won't be unusual once you really get into this. i can't remember the name of the cutter, but the wife tells me it's in the $3K range. great. we're currently combining simple rhinestone lettering with specialty vinyl, e.g. glitter vinyls, sublimate-able vinyl and foils. we sold many at an on-site event we do every year and have a couple of orders from walk-ins. we've not been able to push it as much as we'd like because, well, we have other stuff to do. and be sure you buy quality, lead-free rhinestones. there's money in this and we'll take better advantage of it when we get a break. if you're really serious, get on t-shirt forums (that's the name) and ask away.
