Sean! Those are definitely Seymour Duncan pickups, and Bourns Pots which are just as good as CTS, in fact, Bourns makes the EVH pots.

How is it wired? Like the first PAFs? It threw me off just having a single row of blisters, are they out of phase? I saw the P94s and thought they maybe were. That is cool. I used to be a pawn shop hound but wife got tired of me dragging home junk and didn’t want lead soldering in the house because of the babies.

My late grandfather liked to DIY a LOT of things, I still berate myself for not wanting his tools when he moved to a smaller place and had to dispose of most of them. But he did LOVE those flathead screws. I remember my father cursing a LOT when he had to take apart the bed my grandfather had made for him.

You got a great buy ! You could part it out and do good. But once you and Cathy defunked the guitar and put some good looking chrome parts on it plus some neck tweaking, you have a great sounding good looking guitar. Job well done! That’s a great find for $200. The Duncan Seth Lover set alone is worth it. Seth worked for Gibson in their hay day and designed the original PAF humbucker. I can’t say for certain I’ve seen more offensive colors on a guitar come out of china. But who cares? It plays well and sounds nice. Nice score man!

Flat head screws aren't dumb if they are on truly old guitars... I would kill for a Fender or Epi with flat head screws from the early 50s.

The black paint on the bridge and stop tail piece and mounting posts are always a ground issue on Chibsons! The paint blocks the ground path to the strings! I just did this conversion to good electronics and hardware on a Chibson because the craftsmanship on the body and neck and frets are fantastic! Really great workhorse guitar, all said and done for $300.!!

Found a 1971 Gibson Les Paul Standard burst for $1300. Needed some work, not a ton, but more then I usually put in to a used guitar. Nothing major, just lots of TLC. It may not be the best old guitar in the world, but it's MY of guitar!

I bought a left hand chibson from the pawn shop down at myrtle beach except it said Orville on the headstock which Gibson has made. Another weird thing was in the right light angle you could see the outline of Gibson on the headstock underneath Orville.

Sean, I'm gonna say this the way I think it should be said: That guitar was a worthy purchase WITHOUT the Seth Lover Duncans. It would have been for me, too, since I have the skills and tools to adjust it to taste. Indeed, I started acquiring those skills on a guitar grabbed from a pawn shop! I brought another pawn shop prize back to life after it got its neck cracked badly. In other words, that choir you're singin' the praises of pawn shops with? I helped found it!😆
