@@sau6400 Eh... she was from a wealthy family, you can tell. She looks like every other girl from a 1%-er family; well taken care of, expensive make-up, etc.. Not that hard to look like that when you're provided with everything you need growing up. She didn't mention it, and I am surprised the guy didn't ask, but I wonder if her father knows that she found it ad is selling it. Assuming he's still around, it's pretty rude of her to sell something that's not hers, simply because she found it while cleaning. She said he was a collector of leather jackets, so he probably knows it's value and maybe some important historical context that would boost it's value. I hope she at least checks with him first if it's okay to sell it, that may have even been her grandfather's own jacket, unbeknownst to her.

@@matthew33721 One of the people who has been on the show is Pat Contri aka Pat the NES Punk here on KZbin. He has a both a grey and a gold NES World Champion carts. Only 350 grey carts were made, and only 88 are known to still exist. Only 26 gold carts were made, and they had to destroy some of the grey carts to make them. Only 13 are known to exist. For any one person to have both of these holy grails of video games is astounding, which is why a producer contacted him and asked him to bring them on the show. He had no intention of selling at any price, but he got the opportunity to go on TV and tell a cool story about something most people don't know exist. How often is this the case? I don't know, but I do know that at least one person has stated they went on the show just to say "look at this cool thing I have, and let me tell you the really cool history behind it."

Like everything, it depends on supply and demand: you can have a literally unique piece, but if no one wants it, it doesn't have value. The difference in that is that there are a lot of coins, and in general money, collectors in the world, people that will fight each other for a piece that is extremely rare, and will try to outprice each other at an auction, meanwhile there are few pottery collectors, maybe some museums, but it wouldn't attract the kind of response of the coin, less people want it, so its price is inferior. It's not about the historical value, it's about how many people are willing to spend big for it.

While it's likely a bit about respecting the client, I'd have to assume there's also some underlying legal notion in the act as well. If they just picked it up and, somehow, damaged the item in their handling of it then they'd potentially be liable for said damage and any reduction in value that came from it. By asking permission, on film no less, they've essentially bypassed that potential issue entirely.

Rick actually knew that coin was worth way more and didn't want to rip the guy off. He's done this several times. Does he low ball people? sure. Then again, no one's forcing them to take the offer.

Not exactly low balling. Just not giving em what they want, hence why ppl get so pissy. They offer what comfortable for them. Don't take the offer, go somewhere else lol simple as that

It's all scripted. No surprises there.

rick only pays so much for coins because he supposedly knows a guy who really wants rare coins... he prolly flipped it for at least 100k in 20min... supposedly.
