1400 was a really good price, that's 70% of the appraised value, she should've taken it. People always seem to forget that the pawn shop isn't going to give you full value, that's the whole point, you're paying them 30-50% of the item's value in exchange for them taking care of the hassle and the wait of actually finding a buyer. Now she has to find a buyer, which can take months, and then package and ship the item to the buyer, or go through the struggle of listing it in an auction and gamble getting nothing where she could've walked out with cash that day. If you're not willing to take a 70% offer, you should've never gone to a pawn shop.

There’s a few of these for sale on EBay. The expert was about right,

1500 was a fair price. I guess 500 dollars on a comic book wasn't enough for Rick, now he will make zero. I don't get it.

Cause he might not even get the 2000 that the expert said it was worth.

You can't keep the lights on in a pawn shop operating on those margins. You have to make 100-150 percent on everything just to pay bills.

Makes me so nervous when they leave the shop with their items in hand

What kills me is first and foremost most go into the proposed sale with no further knowledge than what they see others asking for said or related items yet no proof of their actual sale price, add in sentimental value and wtf are you doing at a pawnshop, oh wait, boosting ratings. Get into the food service industry if cheap recognition is what you crave.

Whole things scripted. That's why every transaction is repetitive. Rick does not know everything about everything yet he always has his schpeal in the beginning

I put the value at just a little under what you asked originally so Rick can get a few hundred off. This gal is smart for leaving after getting the appraisal.

The expert says it is worth $2000. Rick asks her how much she wants for it with info and she says $2000. Always amazing when the seller thinks Rick will pay them what he will get when he sells it. Great, I will give you your $2000, hold onto it for a while trying to sell it, and then break even. How can anyone expect that to happen????? LOL
