LMAO! Nope. It's surfboard not an unreleased recording session. It has been up for sale for 150 K, then lowered to 100 k, but never sold, and never will at that price. The guy does not give a carp for history he just wants to sell a gift from his dad for an egregiously greedy, unrealistic amount of money. Nor would he even see 65 K once he paid auction fees and a commission. He's a moron. 65K was an overly generous offer.

It WOULD help if it was signed. It would help prove that it's the same surfboard in the photo. It might be possible to compare some of the scrapes and marks on the surfboard to the original photo (IF some of the marks were there at the time of the photo shoot). But the album cover photos wouldn't show a high enough resolution. How do we KNOW that it's the same surfboard? Just because a guy wrote a letter of provenance and had it notarized doesn't prove anything.

@Platinumsfex5 жыл бұрын
@@lionelmax2953 Id' say it depends. An item like this, the surfboard from an album cover is realistically never going to be surfed with again, its a display piece. So having it autographed adds to its value as a display piece. Something like a guitar played by a famous player, that's a working object that you could play on. So having the guitarist's signature on the guitar decreases the value. Same with a world series baseball, its a display piece so a signature doesn't matter. Say the Mustang from 'Bullet', if its signed the value decreases because people want the functioning car.

@laser325 yeah, not the exact quote, but the same meaning, at least to me. The Beatles were more famous, but I don't think they were more representative of that period of musical history. Beach Boys was a major influence on the music scene of the early 1960s and Beatles were influenced by them. From a collector's point of view, I would agree that Beatles memorabilia would be more valuable. But it depends on the buyer I guess.

True enough, although the Beach Boys were underrated. Especially their work after about 1968. We all know about the Beatles' entire catalog.

Love the Beach Boys, nobody will ever have as much influence as the Beatles. The Beatles had 26 number ONE hits and quite literally have 100 songs in the top 5 or 10. Most people who grew up in the era (and their kids) know at least 100 Beatles songs. The Beach Boys and a few other bands reached the pinnacle of greatness, just not as often.
