It's a pawn shop... they have to buy things for half or less than half of the actual value because they don't sell everything they buy. It's better to sale things yourself online unless you need cash TODAY. I know a pawn shop in Beverly Hills that has over 30M worth of things and he's now trying to get rid of 80% of his things in the back.. mostly old jewelry and art so good luck to him.

Not necessarily, Sometimes those currency are not worth anything. They are still easy and not hard to get because the German government printed them like crazy to pay off their debt so it’s still under value to this day. You can literally get a stack of them for $50 or less on eBay. So i think $250 was a generous offer for a common old currency that was printed billions of them in the 1920

Used an old NCR register in my retail shop for years . If the electric went out I just pulled out the crank and was good to go. Then one day it malfunctioned and when I called the local NCR shop they told me the older repair man who had kept mine running had retired and taken his specialized hand made tools with him. Nobody else had a clue how to work on these mechanical marvels. I must've gone through 10 computer driven machines before I closed the shop in 1996. It was cheaper to buy a new one than fix the defective one.
