totally depends on several factors. some factors that are tied to the actually item itself i.e., how much space does the item physically take up, does it need to be restored? does it need a special display or frame? etc, etc. And there are factors tied to rick's present financial situation. if rick has a ton of his money tied up in investments made on his store items then he tends to never pay more than 60% of the appraised items. based on the item itself i think rick could pay up to 80%: it's small, takes up little space, has a big market of potential buyers because it's a collectible coin with an excellent historical background; the coin itself has an excellent strike on both sides and is in excellent condition and is incredibly rare. rick has paid 80% on these types of items, but only when the negotiation is pushed to the limit, which it wasnt here, and if rick doesnt have a ton of stuff in his store that needs to be sold.

@n1s2e3 жыл бұрын
@Charles Blandino Thats not how it works at all. Yes some stuff goes up in price but pawning is the safe way of makeing a transaction with speed. 20% auctions fee is more then normal. When you pawn you get the money directly and safely. Pawning an item i think you should be happy with 50-75% of market value. becuse you need to find that seller as well and TIME IS MONEY. a pawnshop would never go plus if they gambeld on things going up in price everytime they bought it and couldent sell it for 3 years. 3 years of labor cost alot of money and auctions are unsafe you can get less then asking price there to and with 20% fee of that as well. Its still a business they need to go plus to pay their staff they have alot of staff at ricks pawnshop as well. I think i have never seen rick do a deal that is unfair for all the risks plus labor he is paying. The saftey and speed alone is worth so much. Market value =/= price for an item. Market value is what they have sold for it goes up and down after that! And seeing how it sold for that price to that one collector who wanted it there is less of a market for someone to buy it agian becuse one collector with that kind of money has already bought another one of those items . Lets put this in action: You have a item that is worth 15k you need money for a holiday or something thats within a month or two. How would you get your money fast and safe? Online? Okay that might work but will be alot of work and might not even get the money in time becuse you have to prove its real and maybe even meet up with the person and even then you might not see the money until its to late or they are scammers so maybe you notice that and have to redo the process. Or you go to a pawn shop and get around 10k for it in hand directly yes you lose maybe overall value and if you have the time and labor to go through it dont pawn it. but safe and you got your money as fast as you can tbh. And yes agian rick runs a business with employes. Its like nagging that you have to pay 50 dollars for a pair of jeans that cost them at most 5 dollars to make. That how the world works.

Years later I was in a museum and there were 6 of these , exactly like the one I found on display. They were found in a Native American grave site excavation. I'm new to this channel but have enjoyed watching and learning. It amazes me the amount of negative comments made about the price the owner is willing to pay. While viewing several of these postings I have seen Rick willingly tell customers that they are under valuing there item. I understand he isn't offering the maximum the item can be sold for but he is in the business to make money on the deal, not break even.

Rick: "Look, I have to have this framed and it has to be professionally cleaned and, I have no idea how long this will sit on my shelf...$11,000 is the best I can do." Rick makes $7,000 in 40 seconds.

That wasn’t as tough a deal for Rick to decide but he hid his enthusiasm well. That guy had no idea what he had. 18 thousand is reason enough to submit that coin to Stacks Bowers or some other auction. Pawn Stars win again; the coin seller is pretty happy too. Love it.
