Rick: Hey how ya doing? Me: Hi, I'm here to sell the rights to ABC News. I'm looking to get 3 billion out of it. Rick: You know man, I gotta get an expert in here, just to make sure you're legit. The price I'm looking at right now is around 10 cents, and thats really pushing it. Corey: Dude, I've never seen anyone come in here and ask for ABC News, it's going to be a tough seller. Old Man: Back in the day, we didn't have no television. And the economy sucks. Chum: Deal!

Old man was right. It did take almost 10 years to recover from the Great Recession. And even then, it wasn’t as good as it was in like 05 and 06. Whatever recovery we had after 09 was wiped out by Covid.

I'm not going to any pawn shop and didn't say I was. I've been, and you damn right someone forced me to. I did. I f'd up so bad, so many times, I forced myself to go to a damn pawn shop so I could eat. Every damn time I forced myself to give up my most precious possessions to survive, while the pawn shop made it's fine profit. Look around you. Look at what is happening to America and the world. Profit margins are going to bury our asses. The love of money and possessions is a terrible sickness.

I don't know, I've watched American Pickers and it bored me. But still is a good show, I'm into both Pawn Stars and Hardcore Pawn.

When you realize how Rich ppl stay Rich They just wait for the economy to go bad and bum! Someone will start selling cheap, and that's when they get out of their holes from under the sewerage.

Because pawn shops offer guaranteed cash. If you put something on Craigslist or E-Bay you will barely get anything from it. Plus E-Bay charges fees. And if you sell on E-Bay or Craigslist you get sent a fake money order. With pawn shops it's guaranteed cash at a fair price.
@Keldoh3ad12 жыл бұрын
If you don't like pawn shops don't go to one, nobody is forcing you to barter with them. Also it's not greed, it's called turning a profit, the purpose of every business out there.

I'm sure there are those types in every city in America, I know that there are plenty of low liffes in all the major cities of NC. It the times not the place, they show the types of people that have as the Water Boys mother once said "don't hab da socel skils". Plus we live in a world where no one gives an inch, no one helps out cause its cool to do it for someone else. Being polite is too much trouble, we're too busy shoving food in our guts to care
@realsocotic12 жыл бұрын
There's a big difference in Hardcore Pawn and Pawn Stars. If you like to learn about certain objects and history, you should definitely watch Pawn Stars. But if you like conflict, you should watch Hardcore Pawn. Les said it himself... Hardcore Pawn focuses more on the human interaction with each other.

One thing caught my attention. One episode they had a violin or something that was a Rickenbacher. The expert explained that originally the German spelling was Richenbacher and they, as they still do, changed it by replacing the 'h' with a 'K'. How about the second 'h'. So you do one and not the other. That's half ass!

@BlythePennyBicycle2111 жыл бұрын
got that right. for example, if something is worth 10 grand retail, you could start at 4 grand, maybe go up to 5500 and sell it for 7 grand.

Its an entertaining show. Unlike some of the other reality shows on the History Channel, at least with this one, you get to see some old artifacts and get a little bit of history associated with them. No one forces these people to sell their items at a pawn shop. Naturally, the shop is looking to buy something at 40%-50% of its worth. If you can't live with that, then sell it on eBay. No reason to hate these people... Hate bankers and politicians instead.
@figgy70913 жыл бұрын
@tommy1973able This whole show screams history. Every item you see has a history, and we hear about them in every show. History channel to me!

Too bad this place smells like mold. Most of the good stuff you see them buy on TV aren't on display. Its mostly memorabilia for their own shop like Pawn Star coins and stuff like that.

Good informative and entertaining show on THC. I like the characters, the different episodes,the humor and obviously the value of it's content. I do question why Rick and the guys have to try to offer so little for some valuable and rare items even when the expert gives it a thumbs up/good value. Realize he does on occasion display a conscience and offers a lot more than they anticipated. That's pretty cool! Some of these people don't have any bargaining skills though.

I live in Vegas and this pawn shop has been around for over 25 years. Met Rick a few times,very nice guy. Ultimately he wants to run the pawn shop as a pawn shop and the shop runs better when they are not there. Because now they are a distraction from people buying and selling stuff.
