This guy obviously forgot one of the first rules of trade : something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. This is especially the case with valuable items that are extremely scarce. Best of luck to that guy on finding someone gullible enough to agree and rich enough to pay 650K.
@cooolchick647
@cooolchick647 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for that!!!! It's so absolutely true. I buy and sell items for about 20 years now and have a general sense of what I can expect an item to bring in but there's plenty of times I would use eBay and bidding would FAR EXCEED the expected price because I would have 2 or more individuals fight over certain items and end up paying a lot more than it was worth. Hurray for me obviously lol Sometimes you never know but then it can go the opposite way sadly and you get no one wanting to pay a set price or end up winning it ( on sites like ebay obviously) for way less than you wanted to sell it of perhaps even less than you paid for it.

@@brentfarvors192 Maybe because more people are interested in buying Morgan $. It can be a one of a kind, but if nobody is willing to buy then it's orth nothing. The expert said how much he believes people are ready to pay for it. There are few people interested and those people might not be as interested to buy it. I don't know what a Morgan $ but if you let me use the example of Lespaul Gibsons instead I can explain. There are way more Lespaul Gibsons than there are Texas bills like the man wants to sell. But those guitars belonged to legendary musicians and are the best sounding. So the fans of the musicians and musicians themselves are willing to pay tens of thousands to get their hands on one of them. Texas bills attract way less people. So the competition between buyers isn't as important so they don't need to pay more than maybe 10k to get their hannds on the bills. So they won't pay more than 10k if they don't need to so the bills are worth 10k

What some collectors fail to understand is that rarity doesn't mean high value. The market is driven by supply and demand - supply can be extremely limited (rare item) but if there is little demand, it still won't be valuable. For example, I can have a can of unopened coke from the 1980. That's pretty rare, but how much can I sell it for?

This guy that brought these in is acting as if he is an expert, but he clearly doesn't follow the market. The most expensive currency bills EVER to sell are rare and early ones issued by the Federal Reserve, such as the Grand Watermelon note.

He's clearly not desperate for money or he'd take whatever he could get for it. @@wesjames6060 That's not how owning the market works. If you own something that nobody else does, you decide what its worth. You could say a million but you have to think about what you could possibly get for it vs the amount you'd be willing to part with it for. Thats how those 1st edition Charizard cards got their value. They're not one of a kind but people refusing to let them go for under $100000 means that's what they go for.
@dstreetz91

Uhhh, stuff goes for what people are willing to pay. It's simple supply and demand. If I have some one of a kind item/own the market and ask $100,000 let's say. It isn't worth that until someone pays that much for it. The charizard 1st editions are from the biggest video game franchise ever with over $100 billion in lifetime sales/it is fair to call pokemon mainstream/a lot of people want charizard 1st edition cards.

@@deluxevisuals3230 I doubt it. A quarter of $650K is $162.5K. I highly doubt someone happened to offer him exactly $162,500. If someone did offer him something in that region, he would more than likely say the amount e.g. "I've turned down 150K, or 200K (more than a quarter)." The expert asked that question because a quarter is a long way off what he's asking so I highly doubt he would proudly say that he's turned down a quarter of the amount. I still think "THAT" offer means 650K.

Guys, when he said "I've turned down that offer", he is referring to the 650k. The expert asked him "has anyone offered you a quarter of THAT?" to which he replies, "I've turned down THAT offer" emphasising the THAT. And his tone of voice is saying "ACTUALLY I've turned down THAT (650k) offer." Also if you look at the context, it wouldn't help his cause to reveal he's been offered only a quarter of what he's asking for Having said that, it certainly sounds ludicrous and seems highly unlikely that he was actually offered $650k and turned it down.

Uhhhh, no. You don't turn down $650K to try to get $650K somewhere else. Unless you're trying to run some sort of elaborate scam. He claimed to turn down a quarter of $650K, which is about $163K.
