This by far is the best thing I've seen yet to start a mower I was thinking the same thing why can't my drill just start my mower and my weed eater. Thank you very awesome

I'm an old lady and have been using these electric starts since they came out. Work great for me. I had a problem with holding the drill and the weedwacker at the same time so I bought a Harbor Freight right angle drill. (DON'T DO THAT CAUSE THAT drill only lasted 2 starts and the plastic gears snapped from the torque.) So I just went ahead and bought the $45 starter. ALSO I bought a starter at a garage sale for $2 and then found out the bit was stripped. FYI--THEY DON'T SELL A REBUILD KIT FOR THE BIT ON THOSE STARTERS.

I've got 3 string trimmers and a brush cutter, not a single one has the electric start option. But it looks like a wonderful idea hopefully more manufacturers pickup on! Thanks for the great review pawpaw👍

I have electric start 4 stroke lawn mower it was about 2 years old I got it from the tip. The owner was junking it because the pull cord flywheel(plastic) had broken. I just put a socket in the cordless drill and kick it over and away it goes. great mower as well.

I bought a Sears Craftsman weed trimmer with the drill starter. I loved how it worked and made starting so much easier. I was at Lowe's recently and noticed that NONE of the Craftsman weed trimmers have the option of using the drill starter. Craftsman USED TO be a trusted brand name. Eddie Lampert sold it off when he gutted Sears like a fish.

Great idea! Thanks. I just bought a 1/2 inch square drive ratcheting adapter so i can use my hd 1/2 inch drill and socket to start my mower and 1963 Gravely tractor. Too hard to pull those cords and strap for me these days. I did it without the ratcheting adapter and when the engine starts the drill and socket go into low earth orbit. Im sure your adapter there is just fine for the small 2 cycle engines. Be well.

Yes this is a specialty tool for the small two cycle engines. The male end is actually a pentagon. (Five sided, not four.)

Yep that’s specific to MTD made machines . Always use non-ethanol fuel with synthetic 2 cycle oil on those .

you are the first to explain that dang thing is a pentagon. I have been trying to get a hex in there, thinking about cutting off an Allan key or grinding something. Guess I'll bite the bullet and order one off Ebay. Thanks.

Yes Sir I went this route and got a Year out of it, I had bought the $8.00 one first and it rounded off due to cheap soft probably un-hardened steel. So I bought the $19.95 one thinking it would be better, well it was for one season, then it spins inside. spent a month trying to figure out why it wouldn't start , with compression, fuel, new Carburetor, spark plug, drove me crazy. Your saying can't you see if the crank is turning, No because it's covered up with the cover when you put it all back together and it sounds the same as if all was well. If you take the plug out it would turn it over fine , with compression, no. Can't believe it took me that long to figure that out. I think I'm going to Locktite the shaft in the adapter and take my chances.

I still have my almost 20 year old weed wacker. It works well, it all boils down to how much you use them. Every spring it's hard starting and just when I decide to throw it out it starts and then has no issues. That's a weird relationship.

One main reason I've gone cordless (Ryobi 40v). Still kills me. Looking at the wheeled version. My friend yanked all his pull starts off and uses his drill. Hell, maybe I'll get a goat.

As I got older I stopped buying anything with pull start ropes and went totally to 20v or more battery operated tools. No more gas, spark plugs, gas filters, mixtures, etc. Bring out of storage in the spring, insert battery, start trimming, blowing, generating. And by the way why do I feel like I want to sit on your lap and tell you what I want for Christmas.
