Okay ive been following a ton of MMO's and this one seems like it may be a Gem. Points I like are: 1. Its made for casual AND hardcore players that can benefit from each other. 2. Visual combat doesn't appear to be flashy rainbow blinding balls of light. 3. If understood right, the concept of the center town being safe and the further out you go the harder it is, which makes a lot of sense. 4. I generally find "realistic" type of armor and weapons boring but if they add fantasy elements there may be a good balance like I mentioned in point 2. 5. It appears they are also adding fantasy creatures from realistic myths and legends? If so that would be awesome. 6. The concept of the divine piece sounds really good. Not just guard NPC's. Lore wise it could explain why active warring factions are using the same town? Still need lots more game play and information though!

I think people realize MMOs are a waste of your precious time. Life is far too short to spend playing games that don’t have defined end points. Play a game for 50 hours or 500 as long as it ends. It’s not healthy to play the same game week in week out for a decade…
@sithmaster Жыл бұрын
At the beginning of this week, I wrote a comment on a video for the Ashes of Creation MMORPG. Something that I want to share here as well and with all my heart speaking out. As a long-time Ultima Online Role-Player and game-developer who was able to work with the original creators, I like what I am seeing here. There is a lot of potential, especially in the realms of real role-play, that people tribute by going to LARP for a week or participating in medieval village projects. It may sound strange, but there are three things I miss in every new MMO. Forgotten features that were incredibly important for immersive role-playing. It's a fight against windmills, but I am not giving up hope that at least one developer will have an open ear to it: a) How Item creation and usability adds immersion to role-play: Bake bread > Name it! > Take a knife and slice it into six pieces > Eat them, hand them out to other players or place it on a table. The same goes on and on for plenty of items. Items were not just for the player itself. They were partly unique, like NFTs-but back in the 90s. You were able to speak with a dwarf blacksmith, getting a unique armor with his name on it. And everybody was aware that the quality of the armor was outstanding, due to his high-level blacksmithing skills. You got a key to the house of your friend or to some unique chest in your guild. Items had some weight in the past. Both in terms of physics and existence. b) Slotless inventory based on weight: I can't count how many festivals and marriages we had in Ultima Online. And for most of them, we made individual bags for every attending player (like in the real world) and added custom-made flowers, drinks, and food into them with a nice layout. The pure power of slotless inventories. You can literally spend a lot of time dealing with the chaos of your treasure chests. Sort them the way you think it works best. Spend weekends cleaning them up. Put a box into a chest > put a little bag into the box > put an even smaller leather bag into the bag. Sadly, all modern MMORPG game developers are going the safe route with a system that actually adds nothing to role-play at all. Yes, it is easy, people are used to it and it's just boring. c) The UO journal and chat: Despite that it is pretty basic, it comes with some unbeatable features no modern MMO has: Each player can use their preferred say and emote colors in the chat journal. Modern Chat UI's just slap their players with gray text for every player. Did you ever try to role-play with that on an RP market with 50+ Players? Compared to UO, every other MMO is actually the most horrible experience you can ask for. Another thing is that you don't need to press enter to get into chat. You just type and press enter. I understand that this is difficult to solve when you need WASD to walk around, but not impossible to add while sitting somewhere - as an example. Overall, it breaks my heart as a game-dev that an over 25-year-old MMORPG still outruns most modern games when it comes to role-play support and overall capability to add immersion through systems that just got forgotten, but are still powerful. Godspeed guys, can't wait to see more. - With heart, just some random Senior Environment Artist

Allow the crafter the ability to name there work. Allow the crafter the ability to show there own special mark on items. Like a really specific gleam or something that will allow the known smith to shine out in the world so when say a really famous pver or pvper shows up in town you know he has gone out of his way to use a specific master crafter. That the crafter is a moramasa like feeling. Give meaning to these crafters aside from just the item it self. Give reasons to be in town aside from just crafting like a social reasons like hanging at a pub, mini games, family feeling, Maybe trading outpost with in the town or village not sure what it will be player ran or not but.. Alot of games make this mistake For example Star wars galaxies had a lot of reasons to be in town at the bar. but after a while it was more of a afk event. It needs to stay fresh. In RL when you go to market or say even like a Mall there is many things there aside from just stores. maybe like mini games like thrown axes competitions and archery or something like that. Give reasons to hang around the camp fire and sing and Drink and be merry.. This game has a chance to be something that no other has been. Once again i find my self in this overwhelming feeling of HOPE? Its not the GFX that did it for me. It is the presentation. its the way the world feels just in the few minutes I seen it. I Bid you good luck and I look forward to seeing great things from this DEV crew. Cheers.

I can still remember the name of the top weapon crafter on my SWG server because his name effectively became a brand. Much akin to real life, there was also a #2 crafter who became known as the smarter value because his stuff was 99% as good, but cost half the price. The demand was high enough that you'd get lineups at their vendors when they restocked them, there were resellers/scalpers that bought stock in order to get foot traffic to their own stores, and of course a lot of counterfeit/knock-offs. SWG kind of ruined all subsequent MMOs for me.

I would like to provide feedback for what we see at 5:33 3 things disturb me: #1 Monster movement when getting hit #2 Monster ignores the opponent #3 Monster falls weirdly #1 When the specter gets hit with the sword, it simply loses HP. The attack doesn't move the monster at all. Something more realistic would be that we see the beast get pushed forward. After all, it got hit by a heavy slash on its back. #2 The monster ignores completely the opponent that just hit it on its back. It keeps its focus on the enemy in front of it who's already been dealt with by another specter. Imagine that instead of what we see at 5:33, the monster would return its body and counter-attack furiously and vigorously - It would make the scene way more realistic and scary. #3 Once the monster is killed, it simply falls backward with its body becoming rigid. This looks so weird. It also goes through the human body... But maybe this is intended as it's a specter with a somewhat immaterial body. However, in that case, it would be cool to add some effect showing it goes through the human body. I know this is Alpha footage, but I wanted to point out these observations just in case. That's because despite the world looking pretty, you have to remember that you are using UE5, you did not create it (about UE5). So it's not enough to make your game unique. Gameplay features will be primordial. Hopefully, you consider my previous observation to make your game more immersive, realistic, and fun to play. Cheers!

Since I was very young, I've dreamed of seeing a mmo rpg game, which has a feature that I've never seen in any game of this genre until today. Generally, we see situations where there are predefined quests which players accept or not follow... and these quests are IDENTICAL for each player who decides to try it. If a friend of mine starts playing and accepts a quest, he starts it, goes to the quest location, defeats the challenges and receives the predefined reward for whoever solves the quest. If I start the same game a day later, there will be the quest for my character to solve, the same way my friend did when he started playing, nothing different... My dream was that things simply existed in the world, like a living world, and also started to exist after the interaction of characters and players with the world, without having a predefined "quest". For example: Centuries ago, a pirate ship sank after being sunk by supernatural forces while the crew sat on the run with a relic found in a submerged cave they accidentally found... Only one pirate managed to survive, but not for long, as he was very old and died shortly after the incident, but not before sharing with friends that he had done in a tavern, while drinking a mead, the rumors about what had happened to him. the crew he was a part of... The relic, as well as all the treasures accumulated by the pirates now lay at the bottom of the ocean and the only clue about the existence of this treasure and the event was in the minds of mere drunkards. The rumors would spread during the century that followed and several aspects of the fact would emerge, but each one in its own way, according to who told them. As happens in the real world with any rumor spread. Therefore, it would be up to the players, hearing such rumors, occasionally and accidentally during their explorations and adventures, to decide how (and IF) they would go in search of the truth. If the exploration of any player was profitable enough for this player or group of players to reach that treasure, they would receive the spoils, and ONLY THEM would be the holders of what was contained in this treasure, including the relic. Not being possible for another player, who started the game after that, to collect the same treasure. because that would be something unique in the universe of the game. This would happen with anything within the game's universe... every item would be unique... and there could be equal variations of the same item, when it was more common, for example: an iron sword is common and easily found in several places, without the need for them to be unique. But anything with unique features to be collected in the game would really be unique and only those who discovered and took it for themselves would own this item. This would put an end to the boring, monotonous and repetitive "quests" and would add an absurd amount of immersion and a sense of reward to anyone who ventured into the game's world. The creatures in the game, the most unique at least, would also follow the same logic. (If someone defeated the "Black Dragon" that rested on the mountain of "Deep Heat", this Dragon would cease to exist in this world and the spoils arising from the defeat of the Dragon would only belong to the one who defeated it.) This would allow the world to naturally turn players into LIVING LEGENDS. Each player could have their UNIQUE story, with their deeds sung by bards... about the fateful afternoon they discovered a powerful magical artifact, accidentally or about this player's heroic and epic battle against the feared and LEGENDARY Black Dragon of Deep Heat. That would be amazing! It would encourage continued exploration of the world, make each experience unique for each player, make the world more ALIVE and still serve as an incentive for developers to always be active in the continuous and expansive creation of this world. They could periodically create new creatures and epic mystical treasures to add more challenges and things to be constantly discovered that would one day be the source of many tales and stories about the players' deeds, even if they were no longer present in the game. I dream of the day when an MMO RPG manages to implement these characteristics so that, before I die, I could enjoy these experiences and who knows one day IMMORTALIZE my name in the game as the "Great Rogue who deceived the Golden Sphinx and stole its relic" or the "Warrior who defeated the Black Dragon..." for example.

I'm cautiously excited about this project. I'll definitely have a look into it. But there have been somewhat similiar projects in the past as far as I can tell from the information we get so far. Examples where it went well but also many many where it didnt. Life is Feudal to call a smaller or New World to call a bigger project to name some where it didnt work out, or Conan Exiles where it went somewhat better. I'm excited what new aspects this project will provide. To create an MMO that provides long time activity and that manages to build a hard fan base these days is an incredibly hard task imo. For me personally the base for this kind of game is a truly immersive huge world that I just simply like to hang around and then the possibility for players to make their own adventures in it. The aspect that usually breaks my immersion in an MMO are the players and their way of playing the game itself so I'm kinda worried since I fear that a developer doesnt have too much impact on this aspect. It's maybe just "Zeitgeist" (people min-maxing a games mechanics for a short time instead of just enjoying the world and then dropping it after a while). I hope I can be proven wrong here this time.

seems incredibly promising, so I hope you guys can deliver. it's been years since someone actually attempted to put the "s o c i a l" part back into an MMO, and aspect that is fundamental for the genre - at least in my opinion. the exchange between players is what made those games so exciting and interesting and kept the community together. I really hope this game can be what it sets out to be.

If the mechanics resemble FFXI (classic version) and make it brutally hard and people dependent then they’ll make an incredible experience. I still think about the amazing exploration, teamwork and comradely I forged with adventurers in Final Fantasy 11. You needed people to do everything, the stakes for all activities past lv20 were super high and made it fun!

FFXI was the only MMO I got seriously into. I miss Vana'diel

Sounds really good on paper, like many other MMOs, I just hope it is carried out well.

If it turns out to be what they say it will be, it will be part of a new era of MMOs (Star Citizen being another) that pushes beyond the old MMO formula of static worlds that we've had for decades. I'm very intrigued and wish them the best!

Let's just hope they don't disappoint as much as Star Citizen.

@@imdoingfine I would recommend try it first, they just released a huge persistence tech milestone and there's going to be a freefly this month.

absolutely gorgeous and from what the devs are saying about the design, it's clear that a lot of thought has gone into the design! I will definitely check this out.

The thing every MMO has been lacking since SWG is community, social, the people. Please don't get wrapped up in Missions, Quests, Story and forget the social aspect. 20 years later still nothing compares to the fundamentals of how all the classes interacted with each other and how you can have complete non combat classes and still provide very valuable input. Raph Koster is a GOD.

I'm cautiously optimistic/excited about this project. I like that the devs seem to understand that potential customers often get locked out of games they'd otherwise buy because a higher-end gaming PC is needed just to run them. I really hope they find a way to deliver for people like me, who love PC gaming but have kids and I can't justify spending thousands of dollars every few years when the latest-gen games come out with higher-end system requirements just to run at functional framerate. If they manage to hold true to this ideal, they have a guaranteed customer in me.

..not having to deal with with boring quests is reason for me to give that game a chance. What i wish for is an interesting mechanic handling the players death... "We like Home, we like Cozy, but we are still curious about the darkness."
@taymack9725 Жыл бұрын
as someone who has played mmo's and soulslikes for a long time. i really hope this ends up going down a similar souls route with some minor and large changes. specifically referring to coordinated attacks and skills similar to aoc, build variety, and customization not locked by classes but still stay in defined roles. i really hope the bow has a more new world-like aiming system. I know its pre-alpha but controls look very stiff with the bow.

The passion these developers have for their art is reminiscent of the Halo 3 video developer docs by Bungie I used to watch as a teenager. I thought I’d never feel that feeling again, but honestly I think these people have it. Whatever they produce, even if it’s not my thing, will probably be incredibly creative and cared for. Good for them, and good for gaming as a whole. AAA studios are rarely capable of a cohesive mission like this.
