Greetings Bonnie and hope you are well. Although I have my health, I am no longer employed due to this crisis. The cost of health insurance here is horrifically expensive and something I never encountered before. I can see why so many are in favor of health care reform and I have put that on my list of qualifications for who I vote for from now on. I have one prescription that I take and it use to cost me $35.00 before and now without insurance it is $325.00. Talk about highway robbery!! Hope you are doing well there and always great to hear from you. Stay safe BB!🙏😎

A very pleasing set, Bob! I especially like tracks 1 & 7. When I first discovered German big band/pop of this period a few years back, it was rather a shock; I guess I was expecting something quite different, because of the current regime and its well-documented hatred of anything loosely resembling American pop. These sunny sides contrast fantastically with what was in the works there at the time.

@sonjadonovan20164 жыл бұрын
Believe me, it was already happening since the mid- to late 1920s. Sine then the gangs of Hitler's Nazi party NSDAP had already raided and physically attacked Jewish, gay and Sinti/Roma, as well as all other "unwanted" cultures and people and their work. And since their formal election in 1933 the Nazis made sure that only music considered "clean" could be published. Each and every song had to get approved by their authorities, incl. "racial checks" of each and every person involved in the making. It may sound like any American music piece of that time, but it really was not. For example Jewish composers, singer, actors, performing artists of any kind were not allowed to work anymore eff. the election, and those, who dared to hire them were also in great danger. The music may sound happy and gay, but the lyrics already portrayed quite well the intention behind it...compared to the daring and witty song lyrics of the 1920s the German popular music eff. 1933 was very much targeted at blinding people to reality, to calm them, leading them to believe the times were great ans that the NSDAP was creating a greater Germany....whereas the real plan had always been WWII plus the extinction of everything the NSDAP considered un-German, or "unhealthy"...I am German and am quite ashamed of what happened in those 12 very dark years of our history. Do not be fooled by the carefree and happy sound of these pieces - the reality of those days was a different one. People feared and for good reason mistrusted their neighbors, their friends, even their own relatives...I have heard stories from surviving witnesses of that era that would freeze your blood...it is quite sad that they have all passed by now because history told is always much more effective than history read.

@@sonjadonovan2016 Yes, and Germany is doing so much better now right? Look you can say what you want about Hitler's politics, but the truth is still quite present even today just who runs most of the banking systems? Who makes a fortune off the backs of the working middle class? Just who really calls the shots in today's politics? Especially in German politics? The Germans? I think not, but Germany is meant to be German and today it's sadly less German than one could ever fathom do you agree? Probably not, but anyway the best composers and musicians will always be arguably German whether you care to agree with me or not. It's time to realize the real truth and you're only a part of what's to come in the near future so, have a nice day. 🇩🇪
