I love that point about having confidence that the growth rate you pick will last 15 years! So you can sell after 10 years to someone who still sees 5 years of growth.

Word of caution: Josl Greenblatt uses EBIT (he adjusts the figure so it is similar to owner earnings) EBIT to Enterprise Value (adding debt and such to market cap). Anyway he says a 12x slapped on any business ain't cheap. Phil looks at returns on capital and the runway of those returns as well as if the owner earnings are sustainable. So be careful out there with a 10 cap on businesses that dont have good runways and are at peak earnings. It is a great rule of thumb Phil is teaching but it is just that (gotta do a little more work). Also today and going into the end of this year/into next year remember some businesses wont look cheap via simple metrics on a trailing basis because earnings are very suppressed. That may be the best time to buy or will they stay that way...? Do your own due diligence. Thanks Phil. Gimme something to swing at, love stock tips.

Hey Phil. I am a huge fan of using your investment techniques when I'm researching a stock and when I went to check your portfolio I saw that you were holding Boeing and Gildan. I used your method to get "The Big Five" and saw that neither of them have greater than 10% for all of the 5 numbers. I know you say not to invest in a stock that doesn't meet that requirement so I wanted to see if I'm doing my evaluation wrong or if there is a different way you check if its financials are strong enough. Is it possible that you could make a video showing you doing the big five evaluations for a company? whether its in Excel or another program you use. I think that would make a great video. Thanks for all the help!

Hey Phil, so I just finished reading Rule #1 and I absolutely loved it! I just ordered Payback Time to read as well as well as Invested and i can’t thank you enough for making investing so fun to learn. One thing I’ve noticed about the Rule #1 book is that you were a really big fan of MSN Money when you were doing your research because they offered the 10-Year summary numbers, however I don’t think they show that anymore - at least I haven’t been able to find it. I just wanted to ask if you recommend any other websites, free or not, that show 10-Year history of numbers? Thank you!!
