@@mauer1 With the heavy ballistic vests the heavy SWAT use, a simple 9mm handgun is absolutely useless. A minigun, however, even in a lower caliber, like 5.56, has such a blistering rate of fire that it can kill you no matter what you're wearing

If they ever made a Payday 3, it would be nice if the tutorial levels explained elements of these stats a weapon get. Especially things like concealment and threat, as while concealment seems obvious, a full explanation of everything it does, would be super cool for new players and to returning players who play the game casually every now and then. But specifically tutorials on threat would open up possibilities of skill builds that focuses on this. Where a person in a group could focus on being able to lay suppressive fire, causing police to cover, opening a route for the team. That would result in an entire play style, where your gimmick as a player is to be able to cut off the impact of a police assault, or even be able to make the police temporarily retreat. It's touched on in Payday 2, but it could be expanded on, and become much more impressive.

Bullet impacts actually can cause alerts, but the range is usually so small that it doesn't matter. A good demo is a silenced shotgun with HE rounds, if you fire without a target (up in the sky) it won't alert anyone, but fire at a wall and everybody on the map hears. Not sure if this was fixed but for some reason clients used to not make bullet impact noises, so you could use HE rounds in stealth with no problems if you weren't hosting

I also completely thought that a higher threat caused enemies to be dominated or civilians to get on the ground faster! Great video, really cleared up a lot and now I can actually understand and put threat to use in game. Extra thanks for that stealth tip, I saw how guards sometimes knelled down for apparently no reason in stealth missions after I fired my gun in their general direction, usually by Judging open a door, I always assumed it was some sort of random, sometimes helpful, glitch.

I keep silencers on lmgs and akimbo weapons because 1: I remember old silencer skills on lmgs, and generaly useful stats 2: the lack of muzzle flash and cops jumping around out of fear helps me keep consistent headshots for high fire rate weapons. 3: I have a crippling obsession with the silenced gun sounds and cram silencers on every new gun to see if anything will sound better than the surpressed street sweeper. @Kapeć. If you plan your silencers correctly, it definitely shouldn't affect kill breakpoints. Not only that, the stability stat is paramount to any LMG (reaching sufficiently high stability can enable skipping the entire surefire/ body experience tree). Just for a cheap price of 3 points, the bigger better suppressor can grant +12 stability. A 76 stability LMG and 80 LMG (88 is the maximum for KSP) has very distinct differences and handling feels.

Yeah I keep a bigger and better on my KSP, no affect on damage maybe -2 out of over 200 points of damage. And I drop a couple points into silencer skills and it becomes a literal death laser, 1 shot killing every enemy except bulldozers. And I tried running without the suppressor skills, and the muzzle flash, recoil, and lack of accuracy was not very cash money. And the trade off of having a couple extra skill points I couldn't find any use for that was nearly as useful as suppressor skills.

Often on art gallery in stealth i use supressed judge and shoot the front door to open. The guy in entrence behind the lad start to take cover behind the lad after shot but his still not alerted. Edit: Damn, said to early.

High threat is also useful for dodge. The loss of enemy accuracy synergizes really well with decks like rogue, hacker etc. It also gives me a good reason to use the fire breather nozzle on my assault rifles.

One thing I noticed when doing some testing, cloakers won't jump you if you have minimum threat (or are at least much less likely to), but will do so as much as possible if you have high threat. Not sure if it was just a fluke but I tried multiple times.

I figured out threat quite some time ago, and knew about the application in stealth, but never bothered to go into depth to test it. This could trivalize some levels. Shadow Raid. Clap 4 Murkies, and immobilize the 5th. Framing Frame Day 3. Immobilize the remaining guards in a position that doesn't get in your way. The Alesso Heist. Immobilize the basement guards in spots that don't get in your way, such as by the TV or in that one hallway by the stairs. If one knows how to do it, then it can be done...

For that front guard in Framing Frame/Art Gallery, you can go right past his FoV by using the Sprint -> Jump -> Crouch in midair trick. You'll maintain the momentum of your sprinting speed but gain the detection of crouching at the same time. Makes stealth a lot more manageable, if nerve-wracking. Great video!

Interesting. I had assumed it worked like Threat in a lot of games particularly MMO where the most "Threatening" player gets focussed due to the danger they represent. Which is why in many MMOs healers will generate a TON of threat despite having such terrible damage due to their keeping the team alive. Neat to know It works this way. My usual build (which is silly I know but I love it all the same) Is full tank with the microgun and either of the two rocket launchers (usually the one with 4 in the 'mag') and while my microgun is very stable it isn't accurate so by the time I hit snipers they've already leapt for cover which annoys me so I end up shooting them with rockets. It's kind of funny.

This seems really interesting and if Overkill eventually gets to making Payday 3, I would like to see this expanded upon, such as Cops being completely forced to hide behind cover, which, yes they will dive into cover in 2, but they'll usually just walk back out and continue firing at you like nothing happened. Seeing full on Supression in PD3 could be a great tactic.

I used to main stealth to the point that I could solo just about any mission with little to no errors for long chains of missions. I had no idea this was a thing. Do note that patrolling guards get alerted from damaged objects, so be careful where you shoot when serpressing

Have a high threat weapon, plus stagger perks and the sociopath build that spreads the panic effect and essentially, you just have cops and people not shooting and freaking out 50% of the time at about every 2 kills on overkill and lower difficulties.

But really thanks for the info, have been playing this game for years and up to this point I either completely ignored threat stat or thought of it as a bad thing since in my understanding all it did - was making some occasional enemies just sit down, making me miss their heads sometimes. High suppression: Enemies intimidated, will dodge, and will find cover. Medium: Enemies sometimes dodge, will shoot while not in cover. Low: Enemies don't dodge right away, will shoot as soon as they LOS player(s). Don't forget to Like, subscribe to him, and keep Wolf off the dance floor.

even though trying to provide suppression with a sniper is nigh useless, i have noticed that an unsuppressed thanatos often sends large groups of enemies diving for cover whenever it’s fired. could be useful if you coordinate with a team that knows what they’re doing.

Snipers do have an innate Threat multiplier to make up for their fire rate, so they should apply it fairly easily. Like you say though, it's hard to capitalize on it with the sniper itself.

only the ever stationary ones, and yes they won't trigger cams or make other guards uncool, you can use this trick however to delay a guard's patrol by making him crouch and stop, quite useful in crossing border "day 2" in that fucking warehouse with 3 cages you can drill

big gun scary they get scared they bend their knees if not shoot them or melee them once (or more on harder difficulty) to convince them better. but small gun not scary so it is much harder to threat so do the same as before (smack, stab, shoot, punch, bash or what ever u use to threat them as long as it doesn't 1 shot them) also special enemys cant be threatened (shortened version which i realise is prob almost just as long)

Ok, so in loud, it’s completely useless because you’re trying to hit the enemy, not scare them by wasting ammo near them. But in stealth, I can see it being quite useful. The ability to force an enemy to cower in a single spot crouched can make some heists just flat out easy, but if you’re trying to do this, maybe have someone bring an ammo bag.

Nope it doesn't. There is a formula for that which seems to be based on percentage health remaining and proximity to other cops, not positive on the calculation but Threat doesn't come into it.
