I'll make it easy for you, as a former federal agent in two different agencies (FBI and DEA). All phones are being tracked, all the time. That doesn't mean anyone is actually reviewing or using the data, but they are always being tracked.

@@davidjames1063 you actually can. Someone did a man in the middle on their own phones. They put them in airplane mode and such and carried them around. When they reconnected they sent a ton of accelerometer data that showed the movement from last known location. They could figure out where you had gone. Based on accelerometer and compass they can guess we'll enough.

Here's another HUGE tip guys: Never allow anyone to sign in to their Gmail (or KZbin- same company!) from your phone- even if it's confirmed they signed out, because afterwards they may be able to track your phone's location from their Gmail account . It's how I caught my ex lying to me by accident. I was curious to see my locations and I found a bunch of new places I'd never been- then I realized even though her Gmail was signed out on my phone I was still able to see her locations!

Maybe you covered this topic elsewhere, but if not, it's important for people to understand what Android backups do and do not save. My #1 beef with Android is that you can't do a real complete backup without root.

Time was when this happened w wristwatches. Long before Apple. They kept adding more and more functions. Thanks, Here is the "savage" method: Block your camera(s) physically, play a loud nice music in a room where your phone (and not you!) is. Close the door not to go insane, AND wrap an aluminum foil round your phone whenever you want it not to interact with the towers. Note: call the phone to make sure it's "out of service". 😅 Semi-Savage method: Root (remove the stock OS) your phone first, then follow the video. Avoid the products of the same company as your OS or the phone company, disable third party apps tracing you. you are like 10% secure then.

14:35 to see if your phone is rooted go to settings > about phone > status information > scroll down until you get to phone status. If phone status is official then it's not rooted. If it's custom. Then you can have a problem

When clearing your data on Google all of the permissions will reset. I keep all Google permissions off, but after clearing data I have to go and turn them all off again. Go to apps, Google, storage, click clear data, back, and then permissions.

That term "IOT," stands for "Internet of Things," and I think some of what he mentions is about how radiowaves, specific frequencies, can send waves to coffee makers, refrigerators, Bluetooth devices, etc. to activate a device--a thing--in the IOT. @Bee Rich, "old?" I'm 67 and don't have any issues with smartphones. I also have a background in computers and electronics. As an over-the-road driver I'd be sitting somewhere bored so I started going into Settings and Permissions to see what's what and basically taught myself how to set up and turn off things I didn't want on. A lot of young people probably couldn't handle using my phone because I've turned off so much crap I consider to be useless or just not needed.

There was a news reporter who took a phone that was activated and one that wasn't all over Washington DC throughout the day and then analyzed the data at the end of the day for both phones. The one that wasn't activated was tracked and shared just as much data as the other one that was activated.

Pixel phones don't use Gallery, they use Photos. There are some other differences in the Settings menus as well, so you might have to dig around a little to find all of these hacks if you aren't using a Samsung phone. Also, phone heating up - yes, take a look at your apps, I found that there was a radio station streaming app that was continuously running in the background. Once I changed the background settings for that app, my phone cooled down and the battery life returned to normal.

Good video to let me know where my blind spots were. I'd already discovered a lot of this stuff just exploring my phone, but some stuff I didn't know about. The Apple detector thing could actually be really useful, as I just bought a new car I'll be using for Uber. I already have a tracker installed in my car that lets me know if anyone removes it from my geofence, but it would be handy to know if anyone else, like a passenger, is trying to track it.

What you need to do to avoid tracking, is remove all services you don't need, install the programs you will need, tune the permissions, and turn off the updates forever. The phone works perfectly fine with the software installed on factory. If you still want to update, take a few steps to understand exactly what this update brings to you. And no, don't believe every single update fixes some mysterious "security vulnerabilities". There is no such thing, especially not that many, in a software which is being developed for a good decade.

Replication.... Sounds crazy, But I use android only and had HEIC (iOS) formatted images in my DCIM folder. Also check your etc host file, blacklists. and whitelists. I had turned a Kindle fire into a phone to see the full structure.... My phones would fill, but all folder showed no files. Lol. You're scratching only the surface, but good job.

I found out that a weird app named Meta Service was sending a lot of data and was draining my battery. Turned out it was Facebook spying on me without telling me. F***ing disabled it right away.

My android phone has been making noises as if someone is taking pictures of me while my phone is not in use. Your thumbnail shows a small dot that is located in the upper left hand corner of my smartphone next to the icons that are located next to the time. I checked out my Assurance Wireless phone and sure enough, I saw that small dot. The reset app preferences procedure removed that dot and whatever picture taking malware that got attached to my phone. Thank you so very much🙏🙏🙏🙏!

SLOW DOWN or break up your videos better. Half the settings you reference are not even in the same place anymore. So its a constant back and forth between the phone and the computer pausing, backing up or feeling lost. There is more to being helpful than data dumping.

My hubby of 25 years and abuse on many levels. Thls time he moved some things. Yet still stopping by for various reasons. One day I was sitting and chatting on the phone. I was looking on my phone and my Blu tooth was trying to pair up with my phone. Keep this in mind l don't live in town settings. I live in the country on acres of land. I hurried to shut off Blu tooth. Plus l told the person I was talking to what had just happened. A short time later my husband walked into the house. HEIIO IT MADE SKIN CRAWL.

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK: The root checker is being called a scam in their reviews for the last couple months. Seems people downloaded and error messages pop up. Remedy is supposedly BUYING a set of apps. Several reviews remarked customer service was bad or slow to respond.

The nice thing about android is in the future you will be able to use third party distributions like linux. I am sure phone companies will continue to try and lock phones to their OS and/or network. Network is the huge change that will happen in the next 5-10 years, though. We most certainly won't be using the same protocols.

Rooting is really only good for recovering data that was deleted on an old phone no longer in use. In order for a data recovery app to be installed and to actually work . .. it's usually required that the phone be rooted first. At this point, it doesn't matter if the phone loses its ability to be fully secure because it's been abandoned and replaced for a newer model phone anyway and the only reason it's being rooted is to recover data someone intentionally deleted data on. Law enforcement and or detectives use such tricks to reveal leads in unsolved cases. Sometimes its used by a significant other in a relationship to discover unanswered questions about the activities of their partner after the phone has been replaced and left in a drawer someplace.

How do we know for sure that any of these actions actually work? For example, using incognito mode, do you really trust Google not to be monitoring your history then?

Even IF you do all of these, google pretty much knows everything. They will know your device type, your ip address (so your physical address) etc. Go read google privacy policy.

My personal opinion is that they don't need to track "our" locations or anything about our personal lives..PERIOD!. That's most definitely an invasion of privacy to say the least. I understand if they keep a record of things we may or may not search on the web but..to actually track our location and keep a record of every location someonehas been.
