I feel like you've got it backwards. Cross-border payments would require clearing and settlement, whereas domestic payments that do not cross bank lines should only need to go through the bank's internal clearing and settlement, right?

Few things not clear from your explanation @35:00 What is the difference between clearing house and central bank.. . Can you give examples of clearing houses.... Why cant bank directly deal. With central banks using payment systems rather than having clearing system in between then.. Is payment systems like pay uk, swift - same as clearing house??
