Growing up as a bowler in the 1980's, let me just say I despise the flashing lights, huge billboard screens, and especially the sound effects during the match. It feels like rock n bowl. But if it generates interest and ratings for the sport, I guess I can deal with it.

And let’s not forget the commentary teams either. Let’s face it: there will NEVER be another bowling commentary team as great as the pairing of Chris Schenkel and Bo Burton. Those guys were ALL CLASS. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for the loudmouths of today…

@@faschuck I liked Bo Burton's work on the show just fine. But Chris Schenkel was the absolute gold standard for PBA commentary. To me, he was the Vin Scully of the PBA.

It's called evolution? I don't know why you expected the sport to stay the same as it was in the 80s, especially with all the new technology being introduced in today's world. I hope you learn to keep the negativity to yourself rather than bashing on the new scenery of PBA bowling

@@milespaetz1556 No. Synthetic lanes and reactive resin balls are relatively new technology. Flashing lights and obnoxious sound effects have been around forever. They just traditionally weren't brought out until all of the bowlers left for the evening. Plus, I clearly said I can deal with it if it generates interest in the sport.

@@milespaetz1556 "New," and "New Technology," are not synonyms for "Improvement." It is very possible for a thing to evolve to the point of being a grotesque mutation of the original product. And for what it's worth, I'm a girl in her mid-twenties, not a crusty old man.

Should be Driftwood instead of Smallwood for how much he drifts on the approach. 😆

Smallwood noticeably let up on the speed on #10. That 9 pin could have easily been a 4-9, although he had the match in the bag already.
