Yep, a long gone era, quite sadly. I think it was 1992 or 1993 when Wind magazine in France published the first photoshoot of Jaws (Peahi). Josh Angulo was making the cover on a monstruous wave, for the first touch of Jaws along with his brother Mark, Alex Aguera, Dave Kalama, and I think they might have been Pete Cabrinha, Laird Hamilton and Rush Randle as well. Anyways, these guys were the big swells riding pioneers and the footage was truly unbelievable.
