Very interesting to hear Belmo talk about getting nines and splits, because he does seem to get quite a few splits that I almost never get and I wondered why? I leave more tens, sevens or six-tens than anything else. But he obviously knows what he’s doing. I just can’t help wondering if he bowled from just a bit more to the right, if he would get less splits? I’m just starting to bowl again after 35+ years, due to injury, so I’m a new bowler at the age of 67 and loving it. Just got a new ball and bowled a 280 while practicing 8 days ago, and my average is only about 167.

Higher revs, most likely. Higher risk but higher rewards. It tends to send pins flying around more when you enter the pocket at a higher angle, but if you don't hit it just right, you split. Good luck to ya getting back into the sport!

@@joshuab1707 Thanks for the reply. I understand the reasons why power bowlers try to hit the pocket at a large angle with speed and follow through, so they can get a lot of pin action, but like you said, high risk accompanying the high rewards.

For sure! + means over 200 average, - means under 200 average.

Going further into detail, there is a ‘cut line’ at every tournament, and depending on your plus number, that could place you inside the brackets or out.

You"re playing 25 out to 10 and goes flush 2 shots and then you flat 10 from the same spot. There shouldn't be any carry down that much in 3 shots.
