THAT INTRO THO Also, wow. Probably the tournament I will never forget in a long while. 58th after round 1. 58TH! And then wins it all in the end. Incredible.

FYI, the 2 lanes that were bowled on in this event are the same lanes that brought us the first televised 300 game on the PBA tour which was done by Jack Biondolillo back in 1967. Biondolillo’s last 3 strikes were thrown on lane 28 in this historic bowling center.

I'm a big Belmo fan and I'm happy he won his 15th Major. Felt bad for EJ losing though. The lane conditions were difficult and they weren't within EJ's control.

Nah not buying it. Love Ej and he was smoking everyone that's why he was the 1 seed. Seems like when the pressures on he can't get out of his own head and chokes. That's why Belmo has 15. Dudes got ice in his vains..

Only one player was able to figure out the most legendary pair of lanes the sport has (lanes 27 and 28 at Riviera) over three sessions, and he was the man who won, and became the first 4-time winner of the Tournament of Champions. They had even mentioned on the previous night's coverage how nobody was able to really figure out that pair of lanes (there had been quite a number of players to win one game, only to fall apart in the next game), and yet Jason Belmonte won 6 games in a row over two sessions on that pair of lanes, each over a different competitor.

@@cjs83172 Belmo was indeed the best this night and he earned his win. But he wasn't the only one who had it figured out. Simo threw some ridiculously flush shots only to be rewarded with a ring 7, and then a ring 10. When both bowlers are great, often it just comes down to who is carrying. It's not like Simo is throwing weak balls and leaving flat 10's. Those shots he threw would be strikes 9 out of 10 times, at least. But he just had no carry, and Belmo did. They both bowled well enough to win. Ogle clearly felt the pressure and threw multiple bad shots. EJ was ok but put 2 balls through the nose to leave 3-6-10 splits. He definitely did not have it figured out.

15:00 Norm makes a great point....Belmo has so much power in the ball it makes so much more room to hit. You dont have to be precise like a down and in player. That creates a huge advantage. Plus Belmo doesn't have that choke gene you see in some of these guys. EJs asshole just puckered....simple as that.
@Ironfangzu4 ай бұрын
Not sure EJ choked. He's come through huge plenty of times in very big moments. My top candidate for coming up small during big moments are Sean Rash and Marshall Kent. Both are outstanding and talented bowlers. But so often in the 8th, 9th or 10th frame, when it's win or lose time, these guys throw it an extra 2 MPH and the ball can't make it back to the pocket and leave them the ol' 2-8-10 split. I don't know if that is straight out choking, or just allowing themselves to get so adrenalined up that they lose control of the ball. I guess either way it's a kind of choking.
