Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., on Wednesday questioned FBI director Chris Wray and Michael E. Horowitz, inspector general for the Justice Department, during the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing into how the FBI handled its investigation of Larry Nassar. The former USA Gymnastics doctor was convicted in 2018 of sexually abusing young female athletes in his care. “This man is on the loose, molesting children, and it appears that’s being lost in the paperwork of the agency,” Durbin said to Wray about the lack of urgency in investigating Nassar. The senator also inquired about the way interviewers treated survivors and the prosecution of the agents who filed the false report of allegations.
