The craziest was the landing after sunset on a grass airfield, upslope, no lights in mountainous terrain… I bet it was not their intention and got a bit of delay. Great video though.

PC 12 was designed, in part, for short and unimproved runways and is matched by phenomenal useful load capacity. Its an elegant workhorse by design. Newer PC 12’s have advanced avionics. When he loads the plane, it is probably always full of high net worth individuals from the owner’s family. Its quite a lifestyle but there’s no reason for people to criticize the pilot, plane or passengers just because this is how they live and enjoy life.

I've landed at Courchevel, albeit in a regular single and nothing large. It may not look it, but landing there is like climbing a wall. It looks tiny on the approach, but provided you don't overshoot too much, it's always a surprise that you end up having to gun it quite a bit just to get up the hill.

What's the stall speed on the PC 12? Looking at your instrument panel it looked like your airspeed was only about 70 knots on your final just before the runway threshold.
@bujablaster3 жыл бұрын
Publicly available POH for PC12 from Pilatus web site says 64kt (KIAS) at max. weight of 4.5 metric tonnes and landing configuration. Also, you can see it on airpeed gauge, usual stall speed at max. speed and landing config is bottom of the white arc ;), you can take it as rule of thumb.

video is a bit shaky - close to 50 is true, but MTOW is 67 KIAS, so I assume Gebhard (Locher) was only (....) VERY close to those 67kts. You don't want to risk trying anything below that WAY PAST DAWN in a SUPER TIGHT valey on one of the SHORTEST GRAS STRIPS with absolutely no option to abort, not even on approach. Anyhow, I agree with all of you - this pilot is absolutely fantastic! BTW, have been at Chourchevel many times as CoPilot for maintaing my dad's Qualification Montagne in an A36TC.
