To get to this video, I had to play ALL the PC-98 games in order to isolate the intros that I thought were worth watching. Knowing that even with the Neko Project emulator, it was necessary to change the configuration for each game because what is acceptable for a longplay is not acceptable for a two-minute video, that is to say, the sound which jumps, which saturates, framedrops and so on. So the final edit respects the original ratio, compression and colors, there may be slow horizontal scrolling but that comes from the original game (or the emulation). I chose to avoid the intros of children's games and war games like the KOEI catalog because I don't like them. If you like this video, I invite you to leave a like, post a comment and share it given the considerable work it required. THANKS :-)

Thanks, now I know where that hentai-gif from a few hundred internet centuries came from!

Which intro are you talking about in particular? Because there is no hentai in his intros

@@lefetichemicro4574 No it's in-game in Steam Heart's, I recognized the art style and a quick search later *boom* there's that banner you couldn't avoid seeing! Or so I've heard...😏

Love the Japanese Blade Runner aesthetics of this time, very cool and atmospheric. Thank you for this! No Policenauts, though?
@lefetichemicro45747 ай бұрын
You're welcome :) For Policenauts, it's still licensed so I don't want to pay royalties for a 30 year old videogame's intro...

Wow that Regional Power II intro kicked ass… it must have taken forever to do so much intricate pixel art. I wonder, who were these people making the art for these games? I can’t imagine a lot of them besides the bigger stuff like Kojima’s games had big budgets or big teams. Were these animators in the anime industry doing PC stuff as a side hustle? Or people in manga? Hobbyists?
@lefetichemicro45743 ай бұрын
That's a bit what you summarized, you had people from animation who also worked in video games and amateurs as well, but you should know that even as amateurs, some people were very perfectionists. Afterwards, even if they are not known in the West, many of the studios shown in this video were very important in Japan with many employees.

@@lefetichemicro4574 yeah, it’s kinda like a parallel to the adventure game boom of the 90’s in the west after Myst where different studios could throw a decent amount of money into weird artsy point and click stuff.
