Watch our PC-DMIS Enhancements webinar here. We will be covering some of the improvements made to PC-DMIS from the 2020 release to the latest version 2022.1.
This webinar covers GD&T, Reporting, CAD Programming and User Interface changes.
Trevor: Okay, thank you, Lynn. So, let's get right started now. I'll just launch my presentation. Okay. So, this is my PC-DMIS enhancements since 2020 webinar. The reason I picked 2020 was because that was the point where some major changes were taking place in the software. And I'll go through that with you one at a time. So, this is a beneficial webinar for those of you who have not upgraded or using an old version. And those of you who are using new versions, you will see maybe some stuff that you didn't know that was in the software.
Okay. So, this webinar will cover these release dates. So, these are the dates, all of them were released since 2020. So, that's five versions. So, note also that in 2021, they changed the naming convention to 2021.1. So they've just done away with the R, so R1 or R2. Typically every calendar year they'll release two. To date, the most current version is 2022.1. And at the end of the webinar, I'll launch that and I'll just show you what it looks like.
Okay. So, here's the topics I'll be talking about, GD&T, Reporting, CAD programming, User Interface. And as I present, I think what I'll do is pause at the end of each unit and then encourage questions or, you know, some interactivity. So, if you have questions, just put them in the chat. Lynn will be monitoring them and I can see them as well. So, we can turn off your mic and you can even talk to me, so we can talk back and forth, or I'll just answer the questions at the end of each unit as they come up.

Okay. Unit number one, the big one, GD&T. So, another reason I chose 2020 as the start point for this what's new webinar was because 2020 R2s saw the culmination of a year's long project at Hexagon where they radically changed how GD&T is dealt with in the software. The goal was to become more compliant with ASME and with ISO, they changed some of the math, some of the dialogues. So, let's just get right into it and I'll show you.
So, the first thing you'll note is as of 2020 R2, they've done away with exact measure, as the name of the dimensioning type and they've introduced what's called the geometric tolerance command. So, this is a look at the dialogue and you can see the comparison. My 2020 R2 just has the dark theme. So you'll notice in the first one, the first tab, the feature control frame tab, they have the advanced modifier check box. I don't know if you can see my mouse right there. And I'll talk a little more about that later.
The reporting tab has a new look. In the analysis portion, you can see the icons as opposed to the actual words, textual, graphic, and CAD graphics. They've also added a math section, so that's a huge change. And I'll be talking about the math in upcoming slides and also this slide section. So, you can change the math and it's very important, but I'm talking about that in the later slide.
The nominals tab, one change they made here in 2020 R2 is you can no longer edit nominals in this field here. In prior versions, you could actually type in and override the nominals, but they are not allowing you to do that. You will have to edit that in the feature command. So that's new. New look to the edit window. This was in response to a huge demand by users. One of the problems with the exact measure was you could not see results in the edit window. So, now the results are shown. So there's my...that's a position, so you can see it there, measured results. Prior to that version, you would have to open up the status window or actually view the actual report.
Support for additional modifiers. So this is what's known as the tangent plane modifier, and you can see it there in the standard. Prior to that, you could not even do that if it was on your drawing, here's a brief explanation of it.
