If anyone doesn't know, when you're in the last Dauntless mission, defending the station with picard from the galors, when the klingons go haring off after them, if you stay at the station you get commended for not falling for the trick to lure the station defenses away, and Draxxon has some dialogue when he comes back after finishing the original wing of galors

Yeah as someone who grew up playing STTNG Echoes of the Past on Genesis, Futures Past on SNES and the brilliant Final Unity on PC I'm a big fan of games that have space missions/exploration/combat with you on the bridge but also have away team missions on the surface. Trek 'all in one' or 'hybrid' games I guess you can call them (25th Aniversary & Judgement Rights are 2 more for TOS fans). Watching this game reminds me a lot of Final Unity and the others, it just needs that extra planet stuff to be a brilliant game. As someone else pointed out the closest modern game to that experience is Star Trek Online. Not a fan of MMOG games but might make the exception one day for Trek online because of this.

Klingon Academy was my favorite "space combat" game. I had high hopes for this one but it just didn't have the same feel as Klingon Academy either in terms of gameplay or appearance. Armada 1 & 2 were my favorite RTSes for a while.

@@dinochickennuggies71 Viacom had made such a mess of the Star Trek franchise at the time. Nemesis bombed and Enterprise's number of watchers declined per season. (interesting enough the ratings are pretty decent for today's standards, not great but it would not be canceled) I can fully understand why Activision canceled their contract/license to produce Star Trek games as I was also one of the fans who felt that Star Trek had gone into steep decline in the last couple of years under Berman. At that point the games were much better than anything on the movie screen or television. I am very sad that the fluctuating quality in current Trek has killed any interest in publishers to make any games based on the first four/five series as a good single player game based on the original series or probably the TNG era series would be welcome. One of the problems is that actors are becoming older, the primary ones but also actors who played and voiced many secondary characters. By the time Trek might be interesting again for single player games those actors might have retired or perhaps even passed away.

Here's a little tip for the 1st part of Episode 7: When you fight the freighters,have Miguel do a scan of them,he'll reveal that the explosives are in the aft cargo hold,after that the cargo hold comes up as an available target,so just target that area and you'll take them down in no time flat. Also,considering that the freighters have no weapons,shields aren't needed. For Kessok ships,take out their repair system because that's their big edge. Take that out and they're helpless.

I wish there was a new star trek game in the vein of Mass Effect where the focus was on diplomacy and conversations with branching options rather than a focus on the combat. (Though there would be select points where a tiny bit of combat would occur). Having a game with so much warfare and ship battles sort of eludes the essence of Star Trek.

I agree, but I think it should incorporate aspects of graphic adventure games (like Star Trek: 25th Anniversary, Judgment Rites, and A Final Unity). Those have more of a focus on puzzles and diplomacy than RPGs usually have.

I love the fact that, The Federation and The Klingons aren't automatically shooting at each other and in fact, everytime the kilingons appear, you're asked to assist them in battle. Alliance for the win!!

My favorite was modding the game where you start the game with a Defiant class ship, then upgrade to an Achilles class when you normally transfer to the Sovereign. Nothing could match pulse phasers, quantum launchers and ablative armor of the Defiant. The Achilles’ micro quantum phalanx obliterated everything! lol

I knew Martha Hackett played the First Officer but that Johnathan Del Arco played the Science Officer I never realized until you brought it up. Hmm, makes you wonder what could have been if Bridge Commander had been a pilot for a new Star Trek series (Star Trek: Sovereign?) and these actors would play these characters in that series. It's called game mechanics. The Navigational Deflector (the big blue dish in the front of the ship) is actually _designed_ to let them go to warp inside asteroid fields.

Ps. Just in case my Star trek dream game comes true, the game would need to allow All Access throughout the ship and its many functions. After Completing A Mission, sett ship on automatic functions (give it Coordinates to where ever) and while on route being allowed to give the bridge over to Number One so that you can go visit The Dr in sickbay, then take the Turbolift to visit Ten-Forward from there take a stroll to Deck 42 to check on Engineering, Beam down to investigate a Class M Planet with a Away Team from Transporter Room 2 . Materializing back on the Ship/Bridge/Conference Room, then switch Flight Control back to you and GTA it to your Next Heading. Personally The Enterprise is as important to me, if not even More important than Capt. Picard, Or Spock, and Kirk, they are just mear actors portraying a roll in the show which they pull off quite Admirably, but any other skilled Actor would get the job done too. But the Ship... Is the Magic of Star Trek, Thats what caught me in the first place and has kepted me watching till this day My point is, That there is no Star Trek Without The Starship Enterprise. And I feel like, Rather than having the Brilliance of the world of Star Trek as the next Millionth First person shooter out there for the mindless majority of consumers who just wanna shoot shit, To Actually have a game development company to put in the Effort and create the Greatest Star Trek Game Ever . In 1966 Star Trek forever Changed The world of Television, and for Its Games To not have that Same Impacting Qualities is a damm disgrace And developers like J.J. Aprons (or what ever you choose to call him) should just put the star trek down, Eventually someone with real passion will pick it up, and not waist his talent on something shamefull like 2009s Star trek game.

I remember arriving at the starbase with a crippled starship, from battling the Kessok. During the battle, I had to evade the Cardassians and let everyone else do the fighting. Then I finally had phasers repaired in time for those drone ships at the end. That was quite a game!

I don't know if I've said this on this video before. But Romulan Warbirds, though awesome, can be defeated easily. I once defeated 3 warbirds with A SHUTTLE! Their sensor arrays are located at the "back of the neck" of the ship. If you can maneuver a shuttle well enough and if you survive until you get to that location, just keep your shuttle on that part of the warbird, just match its course, and keep firing phaser to them until the sensor arrays are destroyed. The other warbirds may fire at you, which is good because that means they'll be helping you reducing the shields. You should be fine, just boost shields to maximum. Once one warbirds sensor arrays are gone, proceed to the next one and repeat. It should be easier then because one of them is blind now. Then the third one is just gonna be a piece of cake. Also, it's easy to defeat cardassians space station. Their power core is at the bottom (shiny red part), navigate your ship/shuttle INSIDE their shield perimeter and stay as close as possible to the power core. Start shooting it until it's destroyed. Since you're inside the shield perimeter, it's wide open!

During a fight,you always want extra power for the shields,weapons,and engines. In terms of repair priorities,the warp core is priority 1,then weapons,shields,and sensors. The tractor beam is a low priority item because you rarely use it,so don't give too much priority on repairing it in a combat situation.

Commander Larsen is actually not a bad person really,her big weakness is that she is too much of a stickler for protocol. If she ever becomes a ship commander,I pity her crew if she ever runs into a situation that Starfleet has no established protocol/rules for. Bottom line is as a Starfleet Captain,you're going to encounter situations that aren't covered all of Starfleet's rules and regs and Starfleet knows that,hence why captains in the field get the leeway they do.

I would always mod the game a bit. Give phasers a higher energy capacity and slightly faster recharge rate. Also, the ability to fire all phasers simultaneously and increase the torpedo complement to 600.

i feel like this and 25th Anniversary on DOS were the closest to bringing the Star Trek experience to video games. i wish an Action RPG type game was made with the Star Trek where you can explore the Enterprise, talk to people, go down on to planets, scan with the Tricorder, and either do diplomacy, stealth, ward off threats with the phaser or hand-to-hand. kinda like Mass Effect 1 but less warfare and more like Fallout

Luke, Very Well Said My Good Sir. Furthermore, I would live to see a star trek game that truly captures the Essence of what Star Trek means to its fans it needs to stimulate the Imagination. Like taking Star Trek: Bridge Commander and mixing it with Star Trek Online`s beautiful Graphics, and Instead of having a chapter based storyline, the story would scroll outwards similar to DC Universe Online. Switching from Commanding Straight from the Bridge to a well positioned camera angel of your Starship while navigating through the universe in Free Roam style. And lastly they gotta bring this game (All Star Trek Games) out of the PC world, and put them into the PlayStation Platform. A Star Trek Game like this Would Dominate on the PlayStation Network Online Multiplayer. Shiiit now that would be a real game.

This was by far the best Star Trek game ever, especially with the moddability and the quick battle mode. They gave you the starship and left you to play. Not like the later STO or Legacy where they just move some models and sprites around in a pizza box level while forcing you to slog through a grind. This+Elite Force 2=the perfect Star Trek Game. If you're looking for a spiritual successor to both, PULSAR Lost Colony is definitely a worthy experience, especially having been created by two brothers. Check it out!
