You have to take in mind this was released in 2002, the age of Half-Life, Quake and Unreal. Pretty much any mainstream shooter went with the 'one man army' theme. Call of Duty in 2003 (coincidentally by the same team that developed MoH: Allied Assault) was one of the first FPS'es to give the player AI squadmates.

This era of CoD,BF1942 (and 2), and MoH was the golden key for me, even though I was 7 years old.

People would say run and gun is just the style of these games anymore. But when you can compose an experience that does more than just feed the responses and cravings of the player and not treat them like they are on a constant bumpy dangerous fast bike ride, it elevates the game. This game did that pretty well.

Unfortunately I never played Operation Flashpoint (sort of a shame, though I doubt at that age I would have had the patience or skill). However, I also consider Operation Flashpoint to be more of a 'niche' game, not mainstream like Quake/Unreal and later Medal of Honor/Call of Duty.

Iz Happy Ah ok. I'm just use to the iron sights more now, even on older Medal of Honours like the first Underground, fuckin' love these to death, you can kind of free aim when you hold aim, if that makes sense? =P

Nah it's not a shame. Maybe you can find a cheap copy of it on a jumble sale. it is awful hard, because of the saving system. but it did a lot of fun.

I haven't play the "new modern games", but the old ones including this one and its sequel were just okay, and got tired quick. You're basically an army of one, didn't feel like part of a group. Just my opinion. D-Day was the only stand out thing, couple times of that, novelty wears off.
