PC NHL-09 1080P with 2017 MOD+ Widescreen Fix + Reshade

I managed to hack the exe to change the resolution and field of view for 16x9 resolution. I also created a reshade preset to give the game a more modern look. To see the difference, I did a quick enable disable at around the 2:15 mark. If you are interested you can download my widescreen fix and reshade mod here :

Thanks! Widescreen fix works. I was about to leave a comment that the fix didn't work but came to find out that I needed to select teams and start playing for 1080p to take affect. 800x600 is the resolution initially when launching the game and will remain throughout menu and team selections but HD 1080p kicks in when teams take to the ice. Thanks again for the fix. ^_^

Good job on the 1080p mod on this game. It really works for me like a charm. It's definetely alot better than Wide09 IMO, which was very inaccurate. I guess I can just throw Wide09 in the trash and use this instead. Thanks for making it possible to play the game in Widescreen. Nice work!

Thanks! Wide 09 problem is that it doesn't take into account larger resolutions, only FOV.

Thank you so much. I recently changed my monitor to 144hz and there was some widescreen problems but this completely fixed it. Just want to ask do you have a file to run the game menu at fullscreen? The in-game works for the widescreen but the menu still has black bars. on the side.

The interface has hard coded resolution of 800*600. Even when choosing a vanilla supported game resolution, the menu was still 800*600 back in 08. I don't think I could fix it if devs couldn't get around it with access to the source code. I think it tells how much we need a new NHL on PC!

Any tips on how to actually install the reshade? I have the 1080p version working very well, but I am having difficulty installing the reshade. Thanks in advance. EDIT: I have the reshade installed and figured out how to access the control panel, however none of the settings are checked off. Are you able to give me a breakdown of which Shaders and Textures I should have ticked off. Thank you.

I installed the 1080p fix, set it to 1080p in the menu but as soon as the game starts it makes a small window in the corner of my screen and I can see my desktop. Can you please advise?

There is a readme, please do not set the resolution yourself it game, the registry merge will do it.

Edit: I get CTDs on launch with the 2K and 4K patch but 1080p is working. Not sure where I went wrong since I'm following the Instructions.txt Well, it's better than 1600x1200. I am experiencing the same issue, the 4k and 2k mods don't work, the game crashes to desktop immediately after the initial EA Sports logo video starts to load when using the 4k mod, the 1080p mod works though. I am on Windows 10 as well.

Hi.. Downloaded the files today and couldn't make it work. The game goes back to windows after selecting the teams to play. 1920x1080 would be enough to me but to no avail. Also, installing only the reshade/textures result in CTD, even following your readme.txt. Any hint of what may be the cause ? Thanks in advance !

which file suppose to to make the game widescreen because I inserted the executable file into my nhl 09 folder and it still didn't work. Also, in game when I change the resolution the game stays in fullscreen in 4:3 resolution.

This game is finnicky, it might be related to FPS counter, or other stuff making the game unable to launch.

That might be it... I couldn't find my original copy and the game is no longer on sale on Origin...So I had to take a version from a "grey area". I will put it in the Dropbox folder as well. Otherwise, if you've ever used a hex editor, I can tell you which strings to replace.

I followed all the steps exactly and this does not work at all for me. I used the RG Mechanics version of the game you uploaded, the 1080p version, and the reshade, and after 2 install attempts (completely uninstalling and reinstalling the game), the game still launches in 800x600 every time, and says it's set to "1600x1200" in the settings. I installed the game, merged the registry file, replaced all the files with the ones you gave (including the new exe) and installed the reshade, and no matter how I launch the game (including with administrator) it always launches in 800x600. Thanks for trying, I guess.

What version of NHL 2009 do you have? Try to use the version in my dropbox. Otherwise, I will provide the hex strings to change under the video description this weekend.

Ok, the first thing I should be asking is what version of the mod are you using? 1080P? Did you try without the Reshade?

To merge the registry file, right click on it and select merge. This will tell the game to use the graphic option 4, which is configured for custom resolution. Make sure you do not have any third party app like Bandicam, Fraps, or any other FPS counter when you launch it. NHL 09 is kind of picky.

Don't know if it's still relevant but I had the same problem at first. In the widescreen-folder, there is an exe-file. After following the instructions you need to launch the game from this exe-file only. Launching it from your regular default desktop-icon won't work.
