Salt Pig but at Nintendo’s POV super mario odyssey wasn’t meant to be a speedrunning game so they patched glitches. BFBB was revived because of speedrunning so my guess would be that theyll fix crashes and softlocks but keep the skips

It may take either a while, or no time at all, to find out. I'm sure there are droves of people looking through every single pixel in this game for some sort of break, and writing them all down. Gamer community is pretty tight knit

For my own experience, I actually found a glitch to play as Patrick and Sandy in Bikini Bottom Hub. Sadly, only work inside Spongebob's House.

Just saw that someone also found a Hans disable too, though it's pretty scuffed and requires cruise bubble so idk if it's really useful yet. And idk if it's a full game disable like in the original, just seems like it may just be disabling it for the hub at that moment. Still really cool though.

My best guess for why spongewarping works is because when you jump out the game tries to figure out of there is ground under spongebob, with the bubble slam animation it delays spongebob being on the ground close enough for the game to register, so it tries to push him up further till it finds solid ground to put him on.

I find it funny how there's quite a few skips that stuck around from the original game. I remember back when I was super young the first time I got into the kelp caves was by doing the tiki roundup skip at 2:52 (it wasn't as easy to do in the original though, without ledge grabbing it wouldn't have worked)

I'd be very excited if we can speedrun the 1.0 version on PC. These tricks look awesome already. Especially Kelp backwards! Very happy that is back! The spongetele thing is interesting too. While I don't think it'll hold a candle to the original (because Cruise-Boosting is such a cool movement tech), this game is looking like it'll shape up to be at least respectable as a speedgame.

I'm glad they took my suggestion for fixing Sandy's lasso. It looked pretty short in the trailer, which looked incredibly unnatural. Also, the game is very buggy. Dialogue keeps repeating if you walk in certain places. For example the kitchen. But the game is pretty.

I never played the original game and when this got announced I really didn't care. But after watching the history videos of the game and seeing it not just played but loved from a bunch of fans, it definitely made me want to get this game and try it out. Maybe try a speed run of my own never have done speed running before and I'm not very good at gaming but something in your video keeps dragging me in so keep up the good work.

I haven't seen the run for this game yet(and didn't have much hope for it, honestly), but there's potential here! The d-boosts, the new tricks-it looks like there's plenty to develop, all while not being a purposefully glitchy game, like some people feared. And if we get that new Cruise Boost working somehow, hoo boy...

Also, there is one thing I should add. There's a shortcut to be taken in downtown bikini bottom. Go behind the bank, get on the stone, and jump towards and land on the top of the loose scrap of metal on the destroyed building. You'll land up there and be able to walk on it without sliding off.

I’ve discovered a few glitches on accident, sandys wheel in her dome sent me flying when spamming the attack button. Also if you go into shady shoals, if you move the camera just right to see under the tv, you can see plankton’s antennas

2:49 So the first thing I tried to do when I reached the Tiki Roundup was to confirm if I would still be able to skip it. I probably didn't discover this method but this I how skipped it: Throw the first stone Tiki into the left "tiki button", switch to Spongebob then jump in the stone tiki and double jump towards the ledge and do a bubble bounce to reach it, that's how I did it (video proof on my channel). Or you can also sequence break Kelp Forest so whatever.

Outside of that Mermalair Security one (for obvious reasons - that'd be way too easy for a casual player to encounter), I hope all of these stay in - they all either A) Won't affect casual players (see: Kelp Forest Backwards - a casual player isn't going to deliberately jump in the goo there), B) Don't break the game too much at all (see: Sponge-Warping - even if a casual player encountered it, it requires good timing, and beyond that, most probably aren't going to try Bubble Bouncing out of a Goo knockback), C) Will reward clever platforming from more experienced platformer players (see: That Jellyfish Fields Tutorial skip - I love platformers and play a lot of them; something like this would feel *IMMENSELY* satisfying to find for players like me). Edit: I pre-purchased the Nintendo Switch version. If I cancel the download for the day 1 patch and start immediately, do you think all of these will probably remain in? ...I might just try that and then try these out to see if they work on there.

I found a skip behind the bank in downtown where you jump onto the rock, and jump into one of the layers of metal. You'll be able to get on top of the destroyed house into the next area

Standing on the edge of a tiki will cause the tiki to spin around at massive speeds as it tries to look for you, and could potentially be used to fling Patrick or Spongebob off. Not sure if it's pixel perfect, though.

I know a different method for getting into the kelp swamp golden spatula you had already collected without gathering all three tikis. Play the level normally until you get to mr. krabs. Read the quest. To skip it you just take the tiki from the start (the one next to mr. krabs) and throw it at the wall (the raised part in front of you that mr. krabs wants to get to) that the golden spatula is on. it should stick to a slightly higher part of the wall than the bottom (im not sure if it matters though). Then all you have to do is jump on it and then jump onto the raised part that the spatula is on. Simple! :D

I found a glitch today, don't know if others have seen it, but if you are playing as Sandy and warp to the tree dome then there will be 2 sandy's on screen. Simple glitch but funny to see

5:28 I had that same thing happen to me in reverse. I went to Goo Lagoon and the first time I talked to Mrs. Puff she gave me the reward for saving all the children. I had saved none of them. I literally was entering that section of the level for the first time (Was doing the levels out of order and did Mermalair before Goo Lagoon)

This one is not a speedrun glitch, but I found one that allow you to play as Sandy and Patrick on Bikini Bottom's Hub. Sadly, only for inside Spongebob's House. Simply just swap character in any level, then warp to Spongebob's House. However, if you go out from his house, or you warm not inside Spongebob's House, you will still play as Spongebob.

As a speedrunner who's also helped with development, how do feel about some of these glitches? Should something that completes skips a signficant chunk of a level (Rock Bottom Spongeball skip) remain for sake of a faster run? Some skips are fine to me as it feels like a skill check, but some outright trash the level design.

I haven't seen anyone do this yet but the version im using is switch if you go underneath the sides of the boundaries of bikini bottom you can walk on the sides of it and if hans gets you then you will be pulled through the floor where you can see underneath the map there seems to be a invisible floor so you can't fall to your death.

just found a new glitch on release edition that launched me way into the sky Goo Lagoon with Patrick, just got to the fairground and decided to drop down to the base of the ferris wheel get patrick stuck underneath the revolving platforms and theyll start to bunch up and get stuck together lots of RND involved but if you jump on those stuck platforms (they are unstable) it can launch you very high into the sky, other times you might get stuck on some random objects

1) I did the “cruise boost 2” glitch without a trampoline once when unpausing near the first gate to get to the second area in bikini bottom, not sure exactly how I did it though since there were no trampolines nearby. 2) when in that state I kinda just went outta bounds while holding forward and respawning. Not sure if anyone knows about either of these yet but just thought I’d mention it

They should add a speedrunning mode which is separate from the actual game where all of the glitches in this video and from the original are added plus built in leaderboards to see who has the best time
