I want a game that is a true spiritual successor to Unreal. Metroid: Prime in a lot of ways comes close in terms of recreating that feel of exploring a truly alien world with almost entirely visual storytelling in use, but it's still a different beast. This game is so atmospheric and cool. I love Unreal Tournament but it just doesn't have the same... appeal.

I'm glad you mentioned Metroid Prime. I played both back to back a few years ago and was surprised at the similarities, especially the Skaarj military base. Translator messages coming up constantly to describe the environment or recent activity is very much alike using the Scan visor. Unreal came out in 1998 and was a massive influence, and Metroid Prime in 2002. Can't really be a coincidence.

You have no idea how large of a nostalgia hit I had when I listened to this! No games make such an impact on me like Unreal did when I was a kid. Excellent work, the only thing I miss is the 'action' part of the song that plays when you're encountering some enemy in the game.

Огромное спасибо за добрые слова, так радуюсь получать их от соотечественников ^__^ Unreal я заигрывался на слабом тормозящем копмьютере в 320 на 200, прогуливая сначала уроки, потом пары, да, это была невероятная игра с уникальной атмосферой. УТ просто идеальна своим саундтреком, я не смог "пройти мимо" =) А точнее, я всегда знал, что однажды начну их "обновлять" для молодой публики, которая, возможно, уже не захватила те чудные времена.

In many ways this is even more immersive than the original track, the tune at 1:15 doesn't sound like the odd instrument out of the composition, and the extension at 2:57 starting with that bird cry is just, MMM! I can feel myself inside a remastered Rrajigar mine, heading for the Sacred Passage's exit. If it had a deeper drum line, this would be _perfect._

Обычно трекерная музыка Unreal состоит из нескольких частей (спокойный, боевая часть, событие), у Шахт Ражигар есть очень красивая и энергичная "боевка", Санспайр, Солнечный Шпиль состоит из 3х частей если память не изменяет, было бы очень интересно послушать в вашей обработке, особенно ту часть которая играет на верхних этажах - изучите возможность сделать ремикс. да, еще вспомнил пока слушал, у меня в 1998 компа не было, играл в клубе в нее, а саундтрек дико хотелось иметь у себя на плеере, и ходить его слушать по городу. То нашел какого-то типа, который шарил подключать какими-то методами касетный мафон к компу и писать звук со звуковой карточки на кассету.))) Вобщем так у меня оказалась аналоговая, времена подзаедающая, версия Unreal Soundtrack. В я ее включал на плеере и писал повести фантастические))

Я играл на своем (кажется, p-100), но в достаточно неклубном разрешении 320х200, без вуду-графики и всяких красивостей, так что почти только ходил там и слушал музыку, даже битва с одним соперником превращалась в шоу слайдов. У вас еще модно вышло с кассетами, плеер мобильный, я к МК первому самому на бобины с компьютера записывал, слушал только дома под столом О_О xD

Hm:/ The track is nice and your remix as well for sure, im just sad that each time I go look out for the Rrajigar mines music which is the only one i still remember, I always come across this, and not the Rrajigar mines Entrance or whatever i should call the part you can hear when you actually enter the mines for the first time: watch?v=UFQLZw5Z0jw . For some reason this isn't even included in the official soundtrack; only a fan made rip. To me this was the defining Unreal song, which i have never forgotten because while the others were nice as well, none had the groove as this one. I would LOVE to see this one remixed, but i guess its too short for that :/

Thanks for Your comment. Yes, I remember the track You've described, I heard it in that room with two tunnels (crystal and skaarj signed) and rocket monster. I liked it so much, it's truly made game's atmosphere unreal =) Actually, there is nothing wrong with it's length, the neutral and short rythm is a great base for experiments and remixer freedom )) So I really don't mind to take it into my remix list, the only thing I worry about it's the time You have to patiently wait before I release it ^_^
