@@willm5032 Even the cross gen games are stuck with 1440p-2160p resolution with graphical improvements that are almost impossible to notice (unless you have a really good TV/monitor), same as the enhanced versions of last gen machines. Only impressive thing the 9th gen consoles brought to the table are Ray Tracing and a decent CPU (better than the horrible Jaguar CPU, but I can't really say anything bad about them in 2021 because a 4th gen i5 from 2013 barely beats these notebook CPUs from 2012/13) and some quality of life improvements. Other than Ray Tracing or 60fps, the next gen consoles aren't particularly impressive IMO. Only improvement is a faster loading time (something we actually wanted and I'm glad that the new consoles feature an Nvme SSD). Watch Dogs Legion looks basically the same between all platforms if we disable Ray Tracing. The jump from PS1 to PS2 and PS2 to PS3 was insane because PS2 made most games jump from 2D to 3D (GTA 2 to GTA 3 for example) and PS3 introduced HD resolution and incredible attention to detail (GTA SA to GTA 4, GTA SA was already next gen in terms of the amount of content it offered but GTA 4 improved the world detail and made the city look like an actual city). The jump from PS5 to PS6 will be even smaller. *EDIT:* Since I posted this comment, Watch Dogs Legion introduced a 60fps mode which disables Ray Tracing and looks exactly the same as last gen with slightly higher screen resolution (except the game is smoother than ~30fps)

That video does deserve to be watched multiple times IMO because you will likely not catch everything if you watch it once (heck, I already watched it twice by now as well and will watch it again if necessary), so watching it again will help you understand the graphics settings especially if you are planning to play the game on a not so impressive PC (one that can easily run RDR2 but can't quite keep up with the latest and greatest PCs). Also Alex made a graphics settings chart equivalent to the visuals of the Xbox One X. However, if you have a high end PC, I suggest using Hardware Unboxed recommended settings instead.

Tbh one thing is almost impossible to compare the frame on console to pc because the console will have different setting and also on consoles it is kept at 30 FPS ,even if it might do more then that ,if the frames were unlocked we could have see what components do really match the Xbox one ,usually when it is stable at 30 FPS means that they are doing more then just 30 FPS ,so I don’t really know what it the real component that match the Xbox one

I can't stant 30 fps on neither pc or console. Played certain games, that came out on pc and consoles and i had an issue playing some of them with 30 fps and below on console (at my friends home,. who owns a ps4). It feels a little bit stuttery and slow at times and it hurts my eyes (but i still think some optimisations for consoles were done very good, like graphics/performance while maintaining above 30 fps).

I must admit the xbox 360 was the last console i really enjoyed great system but after that gen i moved into pc and i would never go back to a console again, seeing some games running on 360 and xbox 1 then seeing the same games running on a decent pc the difference was night and day, higher frame rate, better graphical detail, there is a racing game i particularly enjoy which is an old game now by the name Split/Second on ps3 and xbox it was choppy in places, graphic detail was a bit naff and lower resolution compared to its pc counterpart, it looks so much better on the pc it's insane.

@@ShadyXJ_413 Yeah the Kinect for Xbone has a processor built in to do all the kinect stuff(skeletal tracking etc) and heats up pretty easily. It also has really shit thermal management consisting of a thermistor(which is imprecise) that reboots the kinect if it overheats(which is stupid and doesn't solve the problem).

One of my other friends in our close group has been waiting since November for a series X, and is going to wait even longer until they come back into stock, something which won’t happen for months. I remember back in 2015, digital foundry made a video comparing a dual core i3 build paired with a gtx 760 and compared it to the base Ps4. As expected, for games from that time, the build outperformed the consoles,and resultantly, the majority of comments were trashing the consoles. Well now I'd like to see the same config run games like red dead 2 and horizon zero dawn, along with ac origins/oddessey/valhalla, something which the base Ps4 runs at 900-1080p at mostly 30 fps. My intention is not to trash consoles or pc's, nor is it to start a pc vs console war. Pc's will ALWAYS be superior to consoles in performance, but they'll ALWAYS be inferior when it comes to price to performance, and they'll also be inferior when it comes to longevity. A pc build similar in price in to a console, and built with the parts released during the same year as a console's release, will NEVER, EVER stand a chance when it comes performance vs a console, or last as long as a console does. Keep in mind, this is just regarding the performance in games. Pc's clap consoles when it comes to other things like multi tasking, game productivity,compatibility with past games, free online multiplayer, massive sales on games, emulation, and (the best, although immoral, part), piracy. Edit:if possible, I'd like a similar video made vs a Ps4, since it was the superior and cheaper of the two consoles,and had a graphically better variety of shared triple A titles with the pc (horizon zero dawn, detroit become human,death stranding ). Even gta 5 looked better on ps4 than it did on xbox 1.

I mean, my FX 6100, 16GB DDR3 of ram and 1050Ti is still capable of playing Red Dead Redemption 2 with custom settings, some ultra, high and medium options, some other things disable but looks like the console version or even better while maintaining above 30 fps, 40/45 on average, depending on the area, is crazy!

I built a PC for 150 USD today. It is surprisingly capable. It has an i5 6402p, gtx 960 4gb, and 16gb of dual-channel RAM. It is running very well, and it is my new primary PC. I love building PCs, as well as the challenge of a tight budget. I also have a nice case with a basement and a tempered sidepanel. I built this as my gaming PC died and I found some amazing deals that all fit within my $150 budget, and it provides a nice 1080p gaming experience.

I was so happy with my console killer pc I built in 2013- An fx8350 cpu on an asus sabertooth 990fx motherboard with 16 gb 1600mhz corsair dominator platinum ram. Combined with two gtx 660ti's in SLI. Storage was 2 samsung evo ssd's in RAID 0. Those were fun times. Luckily for me my 5800c cpu finally arrived today :)

@@gabrielbutterfield6385 my gaming laptop already is better than a series X and it is upgradeable. well ram and storage is. i upgraded my storage to 2.5terrabites and one is nvme m.2 so its faster memory than xbox. fps is better than xbox... yeah it was 1000$ but its better in every way to xbox series x. and i can use it to edit videos stream ect. all very easy and works flawlessly. and if it was flawed i could trouble shoot it. i can run virutal machines, linux ect ect. idk console is only for exclusives imo and even for that i have emulators.

One thing I think also needs to be taken into account when it comes to costs of consoles is Pay2Play, e.g. (In Australia) a second hand PS4 might say it's AU$250 but really it's AU$330 because of PS+ (over 5 years that's $400 on PS+ alone!). Another factor that I think is invaluable is mods and updates, I play a lot of moddable games such as Payday which not only doesn't have mods on console but it also doesn't have any remotely recent updates (this same situation is true for many other games too). Oh and you can actually use the computer you purchased as a computer on PC.

This is super interesting to see. You do end up paying more for a PC to play the same games as a console, but if you already have a PC you can just replace outdated parts so it softens the blow. Also the whole harddrive vs SSD thing should always be taken with a grain of salt as I've heard people say a bunch of games, Kingdome Come is one of the more noteable ones, runs horribly on a HDD and requires an SSD despite it running super smooth at max settings on my PC. Stutters could be any number of problems.

Same. RDR2 was designed to run with TAA enabled, otherwise it becomes an eyesore. I personally do not like TAA, but I'm forced to use TAA in this game. Watch Dogs 1 and 2 had the best post process AA In the form of "Temporal SMAA" IMO.

I built a brand new pc in 2019 with a Ryzen 1700x and an rx570 for around 500 dollars (about 520 to be exact). With 16gb of ddr4 3000 trident z rgb, an NvME drive, and a 650 watt gold modular power supply. I miss good pricing 😂

I bought my Xbox One in 2015. Played about half an hour of one dance game with kinect, and about 20 minutes of the first I think Halo remastered or whatever it is called. I bought about 10 games for it. Never played anything. Put it back in the box in 2019 and never even seen the actual box since as I have it in the corner boxed. Good purchase.

U can unlock rx 460 shaders from 896 to 1024. It can boost 5+ fps.

In the US before the price hike I could get a dell optiplex with an i7 4770 and a used gtx 960 for less than $200. Has easy upgrade paths for ram and an ssd to have pretty decent 1080p low performance.

I remember first getting the xbone and looking at the graphics. I was stunned, my games never looked so pretty. Then the Xbox went on, and on, and it was struggling more and more until I defaulted to using it as a home media device. I then built my first pc with a 3080 and that excitement I had as a 13 year old, was amplified when I saw real time ray tracing first hand, playable FPS, and high quality visuals. The new consoles look incredible and I probably will buy a series x due to it’s backwards compat, but my main gaming station is my pc

You should add the other details for the systems as well. My X-Box One S with RD2 took roughly 2hrs to download updates. My PC took about 30 mins. The NIC in the X-Box sucks. Both PC and X-Box are hard wired. Gigabit router with a 250mbs connection. I think my Wii has a faster download speed and that's over WiFi. The sound is on par with my PC. Both are hooked up to 5.1 surround. It's not all about the FPS and graphics you should compare.

You know, for about £150 you can build an 'AliExpress' X99 system with 16GB of quad channel DDR4 memory, a 4c/8t Xeon CPU and an SSD. Maybe even a 6c/12t CPU. Many of which can be overclocked by the 'multiplier' or 'bios turbo unlock' method. Then pair it with whatever GPU you can find. Or build an X79 or X58 system for even less.

Skyrim got me into gaming PC building. Rarely play console since except for exclusive titles. I.E. ps4 pro mostly for god of war and shadow of the collosus remake(beautiful BTW). Kind of itching for ps5 but considering the crossover seems to be coming for console exclusives to pc, this may be the first generation I do not purchase, feels weird but feels right! PC master race for life!!!

I have a weird condition where constant pulling pressure on my nail will eventually separate it from the nail bed making playing with a controller a painful experience so it is kb/m pcmr for life for me, I was excited when some consoles announced kb/m support but very few games actually took advantage of that.

I managed to find an rx 460 on shpock for £45 in December just before the gpu prices skyrocketed. Put it inside a Dell Optiplex with an i5 4590 and its great, total of £170

The Kinect is actually worth alot because you can use it perfectly for motion graphics. Its sold out everywhere because of this i bet you can sell ot for 50 bucks in a few hours

No joke, last year I was selling One X Scorpio Edition in mint condition and Kinect and Kinect sold for 60% of that price, I thought beforehand if someone pays for delivery it's going to be success, well it was quite a bit better.

Hard drive is a fair call, while very uncommon it can happen, I've only witnessed it once on a prebuilt (i5 7600, and 1060) with a 5200rpm drive and everything was unlordly slow and laggy. Never witnessed something that crazy in my life, only seen it once but the SSD made a world of difference instantly for that little system even in gaming. That dang mechanic drive stayed pegged at basically 100% even with light web browsing. Once their transfer limit is hit EVERYTHING becomes laggy.

More RAM may help HDD related stutters since the OS will use unused RAM as a disk cache. Honestly, I wouldn't go below 16GB for newer games
