Starfield. I'm upgrading/building testing parts rn. 7900XTX and new PSU. Should finish the 12700KF (socket installer is a bit weird), have a correction bracket to play with and the DDR5 installed fine (seated). Now that I found some AM5 bundles (have no microcenter until 2024) have some regret that I could have done a 7600X cheaper though people were complaining of game stutters (WoW forums). I did feel a regret upon seating the 12th gen chip more than in the planning process where I was just like it's an okay value for the money. I might test the 7900XTX on the 9600K but I feel like the 12700KF might be an annoying build for me to truck through unless it gets better after the correction frame and cooler are mounted. I am at least blessed with working systems where if I screw the pooch, I can still test the new GPU out. Another thing is I have to use the same size case my 9600K is in for the 7900XTX size wise, it is a chonky GPU. I might pick up an AM5 bundle also but will see if I can finish the 12th build but it makes me nervous. The chip is seated but I worry about damage, maybe the bracket will solve things and hopefully it's good. I have 32GB DDR5. I usually don't feel regret until later on.

Why did you pick a 2x32 ram kit and not a 4x16 ram kit, you'll be able to get higher speed, better cl and it should be about the same price as well you get the utilize the dual channel instead of relying on single channel support from only 2 sticks.

@@robertbrainard5651ddr5 memory controllers have trouble with 4 sticks right now... you can get them to work and if you pick the right stucks then finding the right xmp/expo profile isn't difficult for experienced builders but for new builders, if the price is the same, I'd suggest the least painful path which is two sticks.

For that last build, where the 5600 is recommended, if you live near a Microcenter, you could pick up a 5600x-3d, which has 90% of the performance of the 5800x-3d for around $200.

I'm thinking about picking this up for my pc. Is it compatible with a 3050rtx?
@JeffDeLamater Жыл бұрын
@@Splintygames1 it will work with a 3050rtx, but they aren’t a good pairing as the 5600x-3D is significantly more powerful so the 3050 will be a bottleneck for performance. That said, the 5600x-3D will only be available for a few months and then it’s gone for good. I agree with you in everything, but I personally prefer the CPU beign a little overkill. I have multiple monitors and I usually multitask WHILE gaming, so if I push my build to a 100% cpu - 100% gpu ratio the PC stutters on multitask. Using your guides on what CPU to what GPU I ended up with a 13600k paired with a 3060ti (since you had it as the minimum GPU for that CPU) and its just flawless for what I describe, the GPU is usually at 100% while having more than enough CPU for background/multitask

13600k/3060ti is a good pairing, especially for heavy multitaskers. I think it would handle CS2 as well as 13700/3060 combo for a little less money and wothout needing an 850+ watt psu.

64GB for Cities Skylines 2 is a good cushion for expansion. Sure 32GB is totally fine to start with, but once your cities get huge and expand across the map, plus with the addition of DLC's in the future, the memory will get sucked up quick. Time will only tell how well that 12GB 4070 will perform though as CS2's recommended system requirements call for a 16GB graphics card, and on Nvidia's side, those are stupid expensive. I went with AMD's RX 6800 XT 16GB card for my build for CS2, but that's just me.

Hello Jason, I have a suggestion of improvement: Go with an Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2 Tb for 99€ instead of the MSI M371 (89€). For 10€ more you get 33% better reading (3500 vs 2350 MB/s) and almost double writing speed ( 3300 vs 1900 MB/s) and you can buy a Microsoft 11 Key in many shops in europe for 5-15 €. Just FYI @PC BUILDER - you cannot constrain games to RECOMMENDED spec anymore.. this isn't 2004. Cities skylines 1 says 8gb up to 16g.. but you can mod the shit out of the game and plenty of people use way over 32g.. ive seen many setups and game files that need like 46g of RAM because mods aren't optimized and dlc packages just add more and more over the years.

I’m finally in a position to start getting the components and peripherals for my build myself. Planning on going with an i9 13900k, 32GB DDR5 6000MHz RAM, Gigabyte Z970 AORUS Elite motherboard, Samsung 970 EVO 256GB M.2 NVMe SSD strictly for the OS, at least 4 2TB or 4TB SSD’s for Mass Storage, Noctua NH-D15 in black for the CPU Cooler, Corsair RM1000e PSU, if not a larger PSU, but if I’m not mistaken 1000 watts should be enough, Sapphire Nitro+ RX 7900 XTX, and a Fractal Design Torrent case in White. I’m Also getting a new desk, as the one I’m using is my late mother’s desk which is falling apart. I was playing BF4 the other day on my new and first 1440p 165Hz monitor and the act of quickly snapping onto an enemy player made this desk wobble scaring the Hell out of me. I’m getting a desk with dedicated places for everything including the tower. There’s even plenty of room for either multiple monitors or room for 1 large OLED monitor like the Corsair Xeneon Flex or even the LG OLED Flex. The Corsair Xeneon Flex is actually my dream monitor. 3440x1440@240Hz and is the same panel as LG’s 45” Ultra Wide, just with a flexible screen and not stuck at a 900R curve.
@kelley09162 Жыл бұрын
I think you'd need more than a 1000W PSU. The 13900K and Nitro XTX use a lot of power. If you want to save power you could either switch the CPU to an AMD one or switch the Nitro to a different XTX. Put your build into PC Part Picker and times the watts by 1.5 to see what watt PSU you need.
@Kyleplier Жыл бұрын
@@kelley09162ok. Thanks. I don’t have any issues ramping up the power. But I am staying with Intel for my CPU. As I don’t want background processes touching the hyperthreaded (P-Cores). Windows 11 was designed with Intel’s E-Core/P-Core configuration. I want every bit of hyperthreaded power going to my games. As some are very taxing on hardware. Especially DCS World. I tried playing it earlier without VR and without a HOTAS and my current PC can’t handle the game very well. Then again it is just an RTX 2070 laptop. Other games don’t have quite as much issue especially since I got my new monitor which this laptop can run better than my LG OLED or the built in monitor. As 1440p at up to 165Hz is far more balanced between the CPU and GPU. My GPU is still fully utilized, but the CPU is getting more use at 1440p.

@@kelley09162And this build is already outside of the norm for me, as for over 10 years I’ve been more an Intel/Nvidia guy. Performance in between the 4080 and 4090 at a lower cost than both was just too tantalizing. As even the Nitro+ is still lower cost than the 4080. I also like the design of the Nitro+ card.

So, I've searched, and read, looked, listened, etc. to everything that I could on the web to accomplish this build. It took me a long time to understand/accept that I didn't really need 8 cores for gaming lol I've learned a lot, but I'm still hesitating. I'm trying to accomplish a 1500$ Canadian pc build (about $1120 USD) gaming pc (with or without the monitor). Other than gaming, I also watch a lot of movies and shows, which isn't demanding to my knowledge other than maybe getting a nice monitor. It would be nice to get a 1440 monitor, but don't know if it would be really worth it. I'm not interested in 4k. So far, I've planned my build with DDR5, but maybe I'm investing too much on that. Like everyone else, I guess I'm maybe afraid of the future proofing aspect of pc builds. At the same time, I would've like to maybe get an AMD 6800xt. Anyways, here's my build. Thanks again for the videos. They are really helpful :) ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/VHZ8KX
