In today's video I make my way back to U.S. Highway 192 in Kissimmee, Florida which is literally five minutes away from Walt Disney World to have a look around and I hate to say this but it's even more of a dump now than the last time I was here at least going east bound near Disney. As I made it down the tourist strip a little further a crazy situation happened to us as we were trying to use the restroom at a 7-11! Finally, I take you to a few places that is still worth visiting like Orange World and the filming location of the Florida Project. Thank you so much for watching, if you enjoyed this video please give it a big thumbs up!

I have a different "hot take" about 192. Once Disney and Universal started pricing up to a point that catered to upper middle class, it left nothing for people trying to do Disney "cheap". 10 years ago you could get a five day pass to WDW for $350. If you could find a Best Western for $50 per night, and took your food in to the parks, you could do Disney at a middle class price. But now, if you're able to pay $1000 per person to go to the parks for five days, you "might as well" stay on property and pay the higher hotel prices. 192 was our way to be Disney regulars. I haven't been in three years because taking my family of four costs me 15% of our annual income.

You should change the title to "I got traumatized in the middle of the day, in a normal city" Of course fun spot will not be packed right at open time, night time and weekends you won't be able to find parking. I had a blast with my wife, 2 and 3 year old boy. Compose yourself, handle yourself correctly, and stay aware. That is how you should be all day everyday. We had a blast at fun spot and will be back soon. Best Puerto Rican food and live music is at dos bocas across from Old Town

When you said it smelled like "Maryjane" I cracked up! I work in transportation and it is a smell I am tired of smelling. You would think the smokers would respect families with children traveling, but nope. It's everywhere I guess.

@Bald_Sauerkraut I voted and will vote for legalization. I do not like the smell. I have a right to fresh air, just like you have a right to smoke. I do not impose things on those who like to smoke mj. But smokers should consider when out in public, those who don't want to smell it. It goes both ways.

192 isn't as bad as youre making it out to be. I got married at Star Island resort few years ago and it was very nice. And yes there are some run down places and some homeless/sketchy people hanging around as well but it just depends on the area you go to....

We stayed at regal Oaks around the corner from Old Town.. we enjoyed our time. The resort wasn't huge and it was safe and clean. Old town was fun, could grab cheap drinks and hang out, look at the shops and junk, we loved the fun spot and the go Karts, they were amazing!!! We felt safe, I would say it was kind of a colourful crowd... lots of families so all good smelt weed and more so cigarettes but it's all legal in. Canada.! I did watch your previous video before we went down. We did drive a lot and saw some homeless, not too bad. We went to medieval times and no problem.. so maybe it gets sketchier past that?? Orange world was still closed when we were there in April. Thanks for the update.

Just some potholes that need to be addressed, and yeah there's some homeless people around but I never fear for my life or anything. Now I've driven from the far end of east 192 at night a couple times, down there it's a bit creepy since there was just a small area with one gas station for miles, but even then I didn't feel unsafe. And this is coming from a woman, lol.

Hmmm do we really wonder why this area has gone 'down hill'? Its because the cost of living is outrageous and unattainable. Rent is so high, that many..or honestly..most people who work in the surrounding area cannot even afford to rent apartments. God forbid someone who lives pay check to pay check has some sort of catastrophe, medically or financially to where they cant afford their rent anymore. If they get evicted, then they cant rent anymore for 7 years (and I promise because I called every rental agency in central Florida). So what is the result? People live in Motels. Which can very quickly become expensive. Not only because they are paying week to week or day by day. But because most likely these people have all their belongings in storage, they wont have kitchens so they are eating out for the majority of their meals. They are juggling the outstanding bills that are hanging over their heads that landed them in this situation. God forbid they have children who don't understand why they had to leave all their toys in storage. This isn't a one off situation, this is so prevalent right now, that all the motels in this area are overflowing. All due to rental greed, and people buying up residential areas to make Airbnb profit. So before you feel so high and mighty to call these places 'Sketchy'. Realize that those people you are fearful and disgusted of are people who are struggling and may have lived a life close to your own in the very recent past. I hate when I see videos like this. Why don't you go talking to the people who stay in these area, that they have been condemned to call home and ask them how they got there. Florida residents, people who work in the vacation industry are struggling!

The thing is for people travelling from abroad now the Disney/universal bubble, although more expensive is just so much more convenient. We used to book a fly drive back in the 80's/90's and just find a motel along 192 for $30-40 a night and drive to the parks, which there were significantly less of back then so you found more things to do along 192 like all the mini golf, shops, and other attractions. Now with all the Disney, universal parks, seaworld, busch gardens etc you can easily spend your 2 weeks just there now without really venturing out as you just can't fit it all in, and when it is costing upwards of £6000 at times and only being able to go once a year (or more if you are lucky) its hard to justify not doing as much park time as possible, plus with less people having cars for a whole trip or at all most don't even know this stuff exists

192 sort of caters to moderate-middle income. The area is ancillary to the theme parks and what you might do on a extra day. I suspect, that Disney, Universal, and so on have basically priced out moderate-middle income so basically you have to be upper middle or wealthy to go to the big theme parks these days and they spend more time on Disney property rather than go to 192. So I think the death of affordability of the big theme parks may be damaging 192. Moderate income is avoiding Orlando altogether because the big parks are unaffordable and they can get what 192 has at a county fair or six flags.

I used to live in Hunters Creek back in 2005. The area from the Turnpike west to John Young was a bit sketchy back then. I remember we had won tickets to go see a hockey game and Silver Sours Arena and I wasn’t comfortable going down there at night. Most of the time we would only drive down there in the day time. Furthest south we would go from our area would be down to Osceola Pkwy, but just to Lowe’s and back. Most of our travels were north of Osceola Pkwy anyway. The school was right around the corner, Gatorland was across the street (opposite side of OBT from us), grocery shopping was north, all the big box stores were north, and Disney/Universal/Sea World were all northwest. Hunters Creek wasn’t that bad of an area back then, not sure how it is now. Planning on moving back to Orlando in a few years, maybe not Hunters Creek, but definitely somewhere around Orlando. I have many friends in Florida, though not Central Florida. It’s just the area I’m most familiar with. I’ve also lived in Loxahatchee, but I was a child then. I’m sure it’s not the same. I’ve noticed for a while that the 192 corridor has been getting rundown, probably since 2012. Like I said, the eastern part was always questionable until after the Turnpike. The area east of the Turnpike starts to get better around St. Cloud and then south to Harmony, haven’t been south/east of there.

If you're ever hurting for ideas, could you update the information about Orlando neighborhoods, please? I saw the previous one was from 2 years ago. I was thinking about moving to Orlando sometime in the future, but I'm concerned about all the sinkholes and flooding that goes on there. I was thinking it would be nice to be able to drive home after a day at Disney (I don't like driving hours to get somewhere). I want to be able to go to conventions and special theater events that apparently only happen in major markets (apparently Tampa isn't major market enough). I'd also like to live near a farm market for once in my life. Just a thought. I enjoyed this look at 192. I haven't been to Disney World since the '70s, but now that I've turned 65 I want to live closer to fun things. 😊

We used to stay by Old Town from around 2005 to 2015. It was a great spot and Old Town was a nice break from Disney. Places were inexpensive. I think we even stayed at Seralago for like 50 bucks. It was ok back then. You just sleep there. But I remember driving in the morning east and even back then you got into some rougher areas. Old hotels were either barely hanging on or shut down. There was an Arabian Knights (or similar) show that way and it was fine. The one walmart in the area was over there. I think the newer places are targeting 192 but way over to the west where the new Margaritaville went it

Went to a hotel for a night because we were doing a quick staycation with some friends and wanted to save a few bucks and not do the 1.5 hour drive home. Went to the room and could tell the place was old and needed a few updates and just thought it’s fine it’s just for the night. Got our luggage in and went to pull the sheets back to get in bed and gagged from the smell of ammonia that hit my face and mold on the mattress. Needless to say we left and got our money back and made the drive home that took almost an extra hour because the fog was so thick.

I lived in Kissimmee for years and I have to say, the area you portrayed as a bad area, looks the same as it ever has. It is a poor area. Like most of 192, it could use some refurbishing to bring life back to it. It used to be the one and only road to WDW. So it had cars and people there all the time. When WDW had 3 hotels and not 28000 rooms. I remember when 192 had the kmart and a gas station between WDW and the turnpike - that was it!! 192 has been passed and left to rot. Osceola and Kissimmee dont seem to care enough to do anything about it

Do you think since disney has enough , "affordable" hotels, like the all stars on property people just don't feel liek staying on 192 and going through the hassle? Seems like there would be enough people on a budget that would go through the trouble of stayng at these hotels/motels, driving to the TTC , etc, etc. That enterprise hotel has cool architecture though.

I've stayed on 192 plenty of times, alone. When going to Disney, which is outrageously expensive, it helps. I, like several others here, have never had any issues. Yes, it's a run down area. But if you're careful and watch your back, you'll be fine. As for the drug smell, its just how it is. I do believe people need to avoid smoking in areas with kids everywhere, but it's fine for the most part. At least they aren't sucking on a crack pipe, or shooting up meth. I feel bad that 192 has gotten such a bad rep. Maybe if everyone wasn't being outpriced, places like that wouldn't be necessary. It's probably why I prefer going to Universal or Bush Gardens. Though the off property hotels there are also run down and kinda iffy. Sad state of affairs. Its only going to get worse as the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer.

That tattoo shop at old town is the worst. It's a chain tattoo shop. I was pierced by their melbourne location. I got my belly button and eyebrow done at the same time. The girl 1. Did it wrong with way to much skin and to small of bars. This caused the jewelry to bore into my skin causing a large scar that is red and wont go away after 6 years. She tried to blame me and said it got infected and i didnt know how to heal a piercing. Despite me having 5 other piercings and 20 tattoos. I went to another shop and they said it wasnt anythinf i did it was pierced with way to much skin and to small of hardware. 2. She had her friend who didnt work there in the room while I was getting pierced. 3 I watched her drop the sterile needle packages on the ground then put them back in the box like it didn't happen. (This was after I was already pierced or else I'd of stopped right then and there). I know you didn't recommend them persay but I'd stay clear of that place.

Totally agree. I would never stay in a motel on 192. Roaches, dirty, never refreshed, thread bare towels, dirty pools owned by Indians who don't give a damn. These motels are now rented out monthly to drug addicts and are extremely dangerous. Red Roof Inn, Clarion, Comfort, Motel 6, Super 8, on and on. West 192 is better than East 192. If travelers would use Hotwire and Priceline, they can find great deal on hotels, resorts and timeshares. I just stayed at 4.5 star Rosen Shingle Creek for $99 per night. Golf, tennis, 3 pools, whirlpools, SPA and numerous restaurants and no resort fees. It was beautiful. Last year we stayed at Sheraton Vistana which was a 2/2 condo, w/ 1,400 sq. feet & full kitchen for $129 per night. Both using Hotwire

We stayed over 25 years ago way down on 192 which at the time was Sheraton Four Points. Its now something else and I think its closer to what is now Medieval Times. Just avoid the area.

192 starts decent in Melbourne albeit a little more sketchy, holopaw is just empty, Saint Cloud is nice but doesn’t know if it wants to be a million dollar community or a ghetto, Kissimmee is worse for wear, celebration is popping as always and much farther then that you hit another dead zone.

When we come over from the UK we noticed it going down a bit east of the I4 on the 192. With the opening of Margaritaville and the new shopping and dining the other side West seems much stronger now and a better option so we moved across and enjoy it much more and on a night it just has a better feel to it.

This is cute. You’re in such a safe part of town 😂 go one road back off of 192 at any point and it’s $500,000+ single family homes with pools. Weird video. And yes, the disgusting motels aren’t getting business anymore.

I just saw your video and I have to agree on the motels and hotels part but where you were at 7 11 if you continue east there are many new business on 192 new restaurant FAMA, Seafood Buffet, Cilantrillo, At Home, Golden Corral is only few years old, Fl bakery that open during pandemic and list keeps going. Many new business and motels are being bought out it's changing. From 7 11 down west it bunch of motels and no business that is why it looks run down tours Orange world. Old town does have its areas but across the street you have new business and the famous food trucks.

Thank you for this video. Plain and simple Orlando Florida and its surrounding areas make their money on tourism. The politics and pricing over the years has had a drastic affect which especially hurts those surrounding areas. People want a non stressful, enjoyable vacation for their family. Orlando, Florida is no longer enjoyable for my family. So sadly my tourist dollars are being spent elsewhere. Once again thank you for keeping us updated with what is really going on.
