It's part of their pop music agenda imo. They have a build up to keep you unsatisfied and wanting that climax but it never comes. Another pop music trick is to avoid the tonic chord for a similar effect of unsettling the feel of a song except for maybe near the start so when you listen again you get that kick. It makes the song get more listens/views and increases revenue. I should imagine the obscured lyrics in the video have similar intentions.
