PCSX2 is a Playstation 2 emulator for Windows and Linux. It was started by the team behind PCSX (an emulator for the original PlayStation) back in 2002, and as of late 2013 development is still active. The emulator achieved playable speeds only by mid-2007 and subsequent versions have improved speed and compatibility making it both the ultimate solution for PS2 emulation and the instrument to keep and preserve the PS2 legacy in the modern world. Though not yet perfect the program can successfully emulate most commercial PS2 games at playable speeds and good visuals (often better than the original PS2).

Really helpful video, thank you. Question: Many games run perfectly for me, but there are few that exhibit odd graphical artifacts. For example, a small spot in the background may flicker randomly, but the rest of the image looks fine. Are there ways to control this? My system settings are Windows 10, 2070 Super GPU, i7-3770K CPU, 16 GB RAM. My emulator settings are the same as yours.

The thing with me and my controller (Esperanza dualshock ps3) is that when i am configuring the buttons, they bind as something i do not want. Start-button for example always shuts down the game. so that binds to ESC every time. Same thing with other buttons. They will not bind as the right one. Works perfectly on Steam. Just not ePSXe or PCSX2.

nice video..Question any ide how i can fix ssx3 i use i7 860 my cpu boost acording to cpu-z from 2.8ghz to 3.3-4ghz its 4 core 8 threed 8gb ram and gtx 970 g1 gaming graphic card i tryed it all but race start area musik slow down big time and random mid games :/ lets say over all i can play np but its frustrating to se speed% drop and slow down musik and gameplay for 1-3 sec here and there :P..

i get this glitch when i launch the system and when i select my settings i cannot select the time zone.i have cross binded correctly cuz it worked on the language select but on time zone select it automatically scrolls right and when i press cross or circle nothing happens. does anyone know what this is?

You didnt explain anything about plugins.. when we install fresh pcsx2 we dont have plugins and there for we cant acces in config video seting .. can u explain what plugins to download so we can proceed with your tutorial... ty in advance

I want to clear up one very important thing that all of these tutorials do not seem to mention( or know about?) Your CPU is what really matters the most for PCSX2 emulation. More importantly if you can get a great dual core CPU then it is perfect as the systems runs best on a very good dual core CPU. You need at least a Ryzen 3600 or an intel I5 equivalent if you do not want a dual core CPU. The ram of your computer is not much of a factor so maybe 4 gbs or so is fine. If you can get a decent graphics card like a GTX 960 then you should be all set. Another thing is that some game series like the Ratchet and Clank games need a good CPU to play it properly. Most of the fighting games will run even on some lower end CPU's, this is becasue they do not require to much power to play,which is probably why you see most peoples tutorials use them to show the game running as they may not fully understand or know about the CPU being the most important?

I know this is old. But I got Silent Hill 2 to run flawlessly in 2020 on the 1.4 version of PCSX2 with a Xbox One X controller. I updated and downloaded Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and the game has zero input on keyboard and controller. Not on Xbox One X controller or PS4 controller. Do you know if this is an issue with the game and recognizing these controllers or just a gamepad issue with PCSX2?

I got the emulator running just fine, but I have yet to download a game. I tried to download Persona 3: FES from both vimm.net and archive.org, yet they came out as "7Z File". At 9:58 it cuts to you examining the file that you downloaded from the same websites (I assume), but that one is listed as "7z Archive". When you right-click on that file (after moving it into a new folder), it says "7-zip", yet when I right-click on it, it doesn't give me that option. How do I change the "7Z File" into a "7Z Archive"? If either you or someone in the comments could get back to me I'd greatly appreciate it. Edit: I figured it out, you need to download 7-Zip and drag it onto your desktop

Hey, do you know if PCSX2 is safe to use alongside anti-cheat software (PunkBuster, VAC etc.)? I have seen players getting banned for Speedhack in Battlefield games, but I am not sure what triggered it :-S
