Who would have thought that there would be so many water crossings in the desert. They are in full flood too. I bet you end up strapping your crocks to the outside of your packs in the end. Thanks for sharing.

Hats off to ya for hiking the pct at an older age. I attempted the pct back in 94. Had to bail in the sierras. Now I’m 65 and disabled. Can hardly walk around the block. Get out there while you can.

Crossings! I’m fairly sure by the end of my Timberline Trail hike, I developed PTSD later on in it when I would see the “creek” each time far down below and know I had to cross it. Creek my A§£.

👏. Luv that cs on Mission Creek. I s/b there in 3-4 wks. So, how long before u guys just walk thru with ur trail shoes 😂. That’s what I do. But whatever works best 4 u. Crossing in bare feet is asking for a foot injury 😬 that could be an issue. “Mini-holing”: good one! Keep on showing the reality of 2023.

Up here in Julian, my boyfriend just talked to another young hiker that's leaving for the Arizona Trail. It was too cold, and snowy for him! I think the northern half of this trail would be so interesting with the ruins and particularly, cliff dwellings.

The border of mexico into the San Diego mountains are wonderful in the early spring. There is a lot of heavy snow and water crossing ahead.

Snow shoes would be a little extra weight but would make traveling through any snow easier. They are fairly easy to use, just have to lift your feet a little higher. Deep snow is hard to trek through, but since there are several hiking they would take turns breaking trail…the leader will trek for a bit then step to the side, let the others pass and then take up the rear. Being in the rear is easier because the trail gets packed down.

If you use running shoes with nylon socks you can just walk in the water w/o taking your shoes off because they will dry in a few minutes. You will be walking in water almost all the time in the Sierras. Especially this year with all the snow.

Sounds like a great tip! But constant wet feet and shoes, cold feet, just is exasperating! The overflowing swift streams are going to be treacherous! It will be so interesting to see what these guys can do with all the obstacles.
