#BeatAMA Would u please detail all the ways u use your GoPro 9 to video which would include 1) videoing in the mornings in ur tent & as u leave campsite 2) when u video as u walk by the GoPro, tripod on ground? 3) when u video while walking, it appears u have the GoPro on ur hiking pole? 4) when ur video is zooming in or out on features along the trail, e.g., waterfalls, streams, flowers.... I assume u r using software (which software) on your phone (which phone brand & model do u use) to edit ur GoPro video to zoom & slow motion? 5) do you ever use a wireless mic? If yes, which one? I ask u all these questions above about ur current videoing setup but I am curious if u have plans to chg ur current setup & procedures?

Gaia said 6,600’ of ascent. Was that wrong? Either way that’s a ton. 9,000’ of vertical is bonkers. Anything over 5,000’ for me I consider a BIG day.

Think I mention and explain this discrepancy on Day 158-- Gaia does not do a good job tracking elevation as it consults only GPS elevation. More reliable elevation figures are achieved by calculating the topography on a map, which is how FarOut's route planning tools works

The synthetic on top of down trick doesn't work. The condensation gets trapped in between the two and soaks your down bag even more.

Huh! Good to know! I've been thinking about whether some kind of breathable membrane would work as a barrier to prevent this type of cold temperature condensation

Which bag was rated as the warmer bag, the outer synthetic or the inner down? I’ve used an inner, summer weight down bag combined with a 30 degree F outer bag of Climashield Apex and have never had a condensation problem within the down bag. I’ve taken that combination down to about 15 degrees F and was very comfortable with no condensation in the down bag. I think I could easily take it to zero F. I am a warm sleeper. The moisture will condense where the temperature drops below the dew point, which I can only guess would be in the down bag of a system that uses a very warm down inner and a lightweight synthetic outer bag.
