Can't believe the water, man. You three have developed an incredible skill set for water crossings. Nice day in spite of some of the start up woes. Thanks and best... pops

Such incredible beauty, Beat - thank you so much. We love your "no fault" attitude. In jobs and in marriage it is a great way to operate, right? It doesn't matter whose "fault" it is, it only matters that we work together to fix it and move on. Prayers for you all, and you too Daphne as you keep the home fires burnin! Paulie & Bill

so crazy. June is usually clear/ big snow changes everything... afternoon thunderstorms are regular to the point of clockwork in late july early august/ usually you can plan around them but Wow you all are dealing with WAY above average precipitations even if it was the right month for it/.// BEAUTiful Creek shots wow... slightly easier crossings looks like/ hooray not so much snow slogging today... /Awesome times, thanks for sharing them with us

What a lot of meltwater. The rivercrossings are no child's play, especially slippery when you start walking so early, be careful. And luckily you found the iceaxe (otherwise I know where to find one near Cumbress Pass ;)

#beatama When crossing the fast-flowing streams do you use crampons to get a better grip on the fallen trees or do crampons make the crossing more awkward?

Great question! I've already shot the Q&A, so I'll answer here-- frequently the logs were completely encased in a shell of ice. The spray from fast moving water will rise and freeze on the log. Crossing in crampons in such a situation is completely non-negotiable, and I don't use this term often or lightly, but I believe it would be impossible to have crossed those ice logs without some form of traction.

Yes I'm curious what the descent looks like going down to mono creek with snow I've done this section with snow on the passes but dry in the canyons

A slow start to the day - but my goodness, the scenery and light are dazzling! I’m wondering what these rushing waters look like in a *normal* year? (I don’t think I’ll ever not hold my breath as you each cross over). I hear your weariness, but your camera captures what your eyes see - beauty. Thank you for sharing it with us.

@@larkangel6593 *"I'm curious what the descent looks like going down to mono creek with snow"* Same here. With as cold as it has been for them, I would be concerned with it being iced over. On my trip in 2004 the north side of Mather Pass was iced over (and in shadow). The one place I wished I had crampons.

@@larkangel6593 ...and nice that they found a good log to cross with. I've done Bear Creek a couple times and it's a challenge. The first time was around the 22nd of June after a "normal" winter. Kind of crazy when your trekking poles oscillate because of the flow of the water 😀
