Nothing like trail experience to find the best combination of gear. Joe, you are the real deal when it comes to backpacking. Prospective PCT thru hikers would do well to watch all of your videos. I would edit all of your posts into a single DVD and sell it through Amazon.

Thanks for sharing your trip. Really enjoy watching. I live in the midwest, so this has been a treat.

Glad to see you are doing well. All that trail knowledge from the AT and the research you did before this hike has paid off. It's pretty cool that you made some of your gear. Keep up the good work!

Another great video. I didn't notice that anyone else commented on the sound dropping out occasionally. I hope your camera is in fine shape to document your arrival at the Canadian border! Happy Trails!

Perfect time for a gear update. Seems like 90% of gear videos are before a hike. Nice to know what's working best for ya. It's useful information for a person like me who's planning a 2015 hike. Good luck on the rest of your journey.

Great video and update, really enjoying your channel. Would liked to have seen inside your food bag to see what kind of meals your eating... look forward to the video of the wood stove. Good luck and keep safe.

If you take a couple of sheets of news paper and fold the four Corners in about 3 inches so there not pointed you can add the news paper to the inside or underside of your shirt frontside...this weighs almost nothing...and will keep the wind away and you will not need to carry a wind jacket...now if the wind shifts and it's blowing on the back of you, you can add a sheet of news paper to your back under your shirt with the help of a friend...you can replace the news paper each time you go into town to resupply... News paper is very insulating and will help keep you warm on cold days...

I love these videos! Keep them coming. I was also hoping for a gear update, so keep throwing those in. Very helpful. Also, the mic is starting to drop audio occasionally and some of those windy spots are super loud. The old paper towel method seemed to work well ☺ Good luck.

I have a emberlit stove that is great as well!! I was worried about using a wood burning stove on the PCT though? Thanks for the video!! Keep going strong.

P.S. After 4 years of drought, it looks like the Sierra Nevada mountains are going to be full of snow again. 2016 might be a tough PCT year, especially over the passes and through the streams. Evolution Creek will be a real challenge.

When you get home you might want to try out the emberlit titanium, an ounce heavier, more sturdy and a better burner in my opinion.

Yeah, either a second layer of audio recording, or even subtitles would be good.

You might not get much rain in Oregon and Washington right now. Its been really dry with fires everywhere. They are having to deal with big fires in the central of Washington so hopefully your path takes you away from those areas.
