PCV valve 2000 Honda Civic

Instantly improved my MPG from 30 to 35!!!!!! I drive from Utah to Idaho frequently, I always drive exactly 80 mph and I used to get thirty, then it started getting worse I'd sometimes get 27 or 25. Then I replace this $2.50 valve and I got 35 mpg!!! Amazing! thanks so much! I will say it was SO HARD to get the new tube to go back onto the nipple after.

At roughly 3:48 I would have used an open-end wrench that closely fit around the neck of the PCV valve against the base and leveraged the bugger in that way. Using a pry bar at the end of that stem seems like it would risk easily cracking the plastic due to the angle of the pry bar tip, the lack of sensitivity and finesse from using a heavy bar with so much leveraged force, and the lack of accurate directional control for even insertion, given the same cumbersome nature of using a pry bar at the elbow of a small PCV valve. Just a thought. ; ]

I Just changed my oil recently together with my oilfilter. Can i remove my oil filter and re install it again? So that i can fix my pcv. Thanks for the reply in advance!

Rice Warrior Yes you can just make sure the oil filter gasket is seated correctly.

Did anyone have burning oil or oil loss problems before replacing their PCV? I just got mine in the mail (OEM) just want to wait until I get my air tube for my filter in so it’s all done at same time. Im hoping replacing my PCV will help. Also do you need to do oil change during PCV replacement or will you lose any oil when changing it?

Stefen Cruthirds i have that problem right now with my civic. i recently replaced the oil pan and the gasket as well and i did it twice because it kept leaking for some reason and i'm sure i sealed it right. i've done this things before with no problems & its burning oil thru the exhaust like crazy but for what i've heard the pcv valve could be the reason why i'm burning oil and the leaking thru the gasket. i'm hoping this is the problem.

@@Santos.V the pcv valve goes directly to the intake manifold. It shouldn't have anything to do with th exhaust.

this is just a guess but maybe, just maybe it's the oil pressure switch. I haven't looked it but it's just a guess right now based on past experience on a old Honda Accord

Seen some people remove the whole throttle body, then they have to replace the throttle body gasket!!! Both from top and bottom suck!!!!! Cmon Honda put it in an easier location.

You cannot do the 'rattle test'. Those things can rattle for a very long time. Average lifespan is around 50,000km/36 months. Which ever comes first. Approx. every 2nd air filter change. Unless specified by the manufacturer. Some have a lifespan of 150,000km+ like 5.7 Dodge Hemi and some Jeeps. Consult owners manual...

Watched one from dirty before and sometimes in others it's a much larger unit with a rubber casing , tube U pull off use the glue flex to put the flat head and scrap it out then push both ends on kinda looks like a U , so the part in the video looks like it is clamped it's a vac

what a pain in the ass, is yours a nonvtec civic? it looks like you have slightly more room. The vtec one has a straight PCV valve and no room to get the pcv valve in, right now I only have it halfway in. I just can't believe the lack of space there is to do the job...the b18b/b20 motors seem to have more room under there... Glad I have multiple cars I'll probably attempt it later.

I think it is absolutely inexcusable and insane what the Honda engineers did here! Talk about making the thing almost impossible to service! Mine unfortunately broke off and I wasn't able to extricate the remaining pieces and they are now rattling around inside the breather chamber. I'm going to try to engineer a solution to recover from this because I don't want to remove the intake manifold and install a new breather chamber. Uggh. By the way, in 1975 Honda Civic they had the hose as a 2 piece with the PCV valve located in the middle and it was accessible from above the intake manifold. Why they did away with this I have no clue but no bueno!

Jesus, so that's where the pcv valve is at. I was still looking for mine and I could not find it at all. Usually the pcv valve is very simple to change out, but this one looks like a pain in the ass to do. It looks like the one end of that pcv valve tube is connected to the back of the intake manifold.
