As a ADI of 9 years I’m still looking every day to improve my own standards and help my pupils to a better standard . Thank you for these videos and great advice . I’m going to have a look at your online training course. You give good and detailed information about the subjects we do each day and Sometimes we all fall short of giving value for our services ,but the way you approach , inform and demonstrate the competencies are top quality. You have certainly given me lots to think about ,thank you

Great video again. As a newly qualified ADI I'm a big fan of Jonathan's content. I failed my first part 3 attempt and started looking for extra help. I purchased several different training courses. The BOOM instructor training part 3 course was easily the best. All video no waffle and easy to understand and apply. I 100% recommend it.

Hi Jonathan It's nice to finally see some KZbin videos of someone who knows what they are doing. Keep it up 👍 When I deliver training, I often say the best way to manage risk, is don't let it happen in the first place. With this in mind, as soon as I had noticed the learner was not dealing with the situation, I would have used a prompt or reminder first before the intervention. Probably in the form of a question. If this hadn't of worked, then I would have intervened. As a risk management step, I also suggest to trainees that after a PSCI we should really be giving a directed stop instead of asking the learner to pull up at a safe place. This is to prevent the learner from making any more mistakes as they may be thinking about the previous situation instead of what has been asked of them. This is on no way a criticism, but more of an observation. I notice you don't look at the learner when you give directions. You are aware of their actions though. Examiner are trained to use a technique called Mirror, Look, Talk. They check their mirror, look directly at the learner and then give a direction. This eliminates missing any faults from the learner. If we give a direction and then look at the learner, they may have already used mirrors without us knowing. Thank you for the content.

Hi Jonathan, this is a bit of a random question(!) but what kind of camera do you use to film the in-car shots of you and the learner? Many thanks!

Thank you for posting this video(and your dad Malk)...This is a really unbelievable learning tool for us ADI'S...I learnt so much from this video. May I ask a further question that I'm not sure about. You assessed the risk and beatifully acted accordingly, and subsequently took control and asked your dad, that you were going to take control the next time and him thereafter. Was there any reason why you did not ask him if he was ok with this?(Would you get marked down on a standard check, for not asking the pupil, if he was comfortable with this) Apologies for being pedantic...I'm only looking for confirmation either way... You videos are of an amazingly high quality by the way 👍👏🙏 I'm definitely going to subscribe to all of your videos

Thanks for your comment. It’s fine as an ADI or PDI to take back control and tell the pupil you will be instructing on the next practice. However, what you suggested is fine also. You could ask if they were ok with this 👍 The important thing is the pupil always knows what’s expected of them.

Hi Jonathan I had one question here if it was this same exact road on a part 3 the pupil was going exactly fast like that But if there were on coming cars aswell if you had intervened and adapted the lesson would you take them to the same road again and adapted it exactly the same way you done in this video? or would that now be a meeting situation problem and you would do something different to fix it? please could you kindly reply thank you
@BoomInstructorTraining
@BoomInstructorTraining Жыл бұрын
Hello. You’d discuss what happened, why it happened, discuss the risks and discuss what to do differently next time. Then let your pupil try again. And use whatever roads are available in the area to allow the pupil to practice and improve. This might be circling back round and using the same road; or there might be other roads nearby with similar practice opportunities which you could use.
