The part of "There will be scary ghost stories" is something that used to be a Christmas tradition, especially in England. Though that tradition have disappeared with time, there's still one particular ghost story that is told to thos day, in one form or another; A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. It's technically a ghost story as Ebenezer Scrooge is haunted by the ghost of Jacob Marley and the three Spirits of Past, Present and Yet To Come (AKA Future) to help him avoid Marley's fate through redemption.

The synth playing, bass riffs and harmonica verse add so much to Peabo's excellent signing throughout. The ending of the song, from his holding of notes to the 'stepping away' of the synth and the flourish of the instruments at the very end is so rich and memorable. The song is not afraid to end and does it with style. Best version of 'It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year' there is. The radio rightly chooses to play this version over the re-recording with self-evident good reason. Plus, the man is impeccably dressed on the cover of Peace on Earth (though the re-recording's album cover of a ribbon making a stylized Christmas Tree half is lovely as a work of art). I've no authority beyond my personal taste in music, but 11/10; Peabo and his band not only understood the assignment, they gave it 110% and gave it a sense of style all their own. One of my top 3 favorite Christmas Songs and it's only real competition is Natalie Cole's superlative rendition of 'The First Noel' and Jars of Clay's hauntingly beautiful and both depressing yet somehow hopeful vision of 'Christmas Time is Here'.
