Eisenhower from the White House Oval Office addresses the nation on the purpose of the 3 week, 11 nation tour. He traveled 22,000 miles, visited 11 nations. Rome, Italy; Ankara, Turkey; Karachi, Pakistan where he attended a horse show, sword dance and cricket match; Kabul, Afghanistan; New Delhi, India, where he spoke to the Parliament and received an honorary Ph.D. in Laws; Athens, Greece; Tunis, Tunisia where he received a horse; Paris, France, to meet with Charles DeGaulle, Harold MacMillan, and Konrad Adenauer; Madrid, Spain; Casablanca, Morocco. Returned to Washington, DC, to light the National Christmas tree.
