This was great Mashallah! Very much touched on many of the issues in Philly. I have a few concerns, I do think maybe the language was a tad harsh to be coming from the imam standing on the minbar. Yes, meet ppl where they are but just a little more etiquette maybe? My only other concern is regarding the prioritization of deen. Imam is 100% correct about part time Muslims and the importance of attending madrasa etc. However, to say in the same breath that a young brother was turned away from his madrasa because he had locs sounds like the same issue of priorities. Also , hypocritical . Meet ppl where they are. To not allow locs is not only anti black but honestly also rooted in ignorance and perpetuates the anti black viewpoint of some of the ppl from overseas who share this view. Let us meet the ummah where they are and uplift. Inshallah JZK
