this is so fascinating to me. Mongolia looks so interesting and mysterious. Someone told me that Mongolians are really hospitable people.

I can assure you that that is 100% true about the Mongolian people. They are always happy to welcome people into their homes and feed you as soon as you come in. Like if you find yourself in the middle of nowhere and see a ger in the distance, the family living there will surely welcome you and feed you no matter what.

Thank you but in comparison to other homes in Mongolia, it's not. I'd say, it's about average.

Hi Mandy, how lenient are the peace corps when it come to picking a place? I don't really want to pick a certain place, but rather my only request would be that I don't end up somewhere where it's too hot as my eczema flares up.. is it possible to ask for this or would it ruin my chance do you think?

Hello Shelly! First, I would like to thank you for viewing my content, it is greatly appreciated. To answer your questions: I had applied before the Peace Corps change their application process, so I had no choice in my assignment. I would have been allowed to say "no" and wait it out until I received another assignment but I was willing to go to Mongolia. Since the application process changed, applicants are allowed to select their 3 choice countries, while as before it was 3 choice continents (like for me). From what I hear from fellow Peace Corps Volunteers and staff, they are pretty good at placing you where you want to be now, if the applicant fits the position. I do not think it would be an issue/ruin your chances, but if you would like to get more information, visit your local recruitment center for more specific information.
