Love this. listen to it alot as a backround. An amazing mix of NZ Bellbirds. Introduced Aussie Magpies and introduced European Song Thrush. Would love to know any other birds that are singing in this..

i cried a bit if i'm honest i'm stuck in England and i miss home, i wish there was some fantails on here maybe even the odd quail. i'm from the top of the south and this sounds a little more north island with all the magpies or minor birds

Hi, try this one. It was recorded in Waiuta on the West Coast - I don't think you'll hear any magpies in this one. Those magpies get around. When I was a kid we never used to see them in the upper North Island - but they have well and truly made their way all over New Zealand now . kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKjVqoWCf9WLjNE

@@LawrenceOGrady yeah i remember a few Magpies making their way into my hometown Takaka but they were swiftly taken out by local farmers and have never since returned. best bird sound i've ever heard though was on Stewart Island

Lawrence O'Grady I highly recommend going there, don’t bother with the Kiwi bird tours because they are literally everywhere and the local cop will even take you out kiwi spotting if you ask nicely. Summer is a lot better but can be very busy, I’d recommend doing the Ulva island tour it’s only about $25 to get across on the taxi boat. There’s just the one pub but they do nice meals also a good restaurant up at the church on the hill or even the Kai kart during summer months. If you find your way out to horseshoe bay it’s very nice there it’s a long white sand beach lots of blue cod that you can catch from a kayak too or one of the local charters but you can basically drop a line anywhere and pull up a fish.

That's beautiful Lawrence. My neighbours and I keep hearing a bird that seems to sing the tune from the Hunger Games, its quite haunting. We're trying to identify the bird, can you help? I've heard it several times in Wadestown, Khandallah and Broadmeadows. We tried to record it a few times, but the Welly winds just drowns it out.
