MISIA is a singer who represents not only Japan but also Asia. She is the person who sparked the female R&B boom in Japan. She discovered gospel music at her hometown church, and when she was in high school she studied with a Black voice trainer. From the time she made her major debut at the age of 19 to the present, she has continued to run without dropping out of her leading pack. You can tell by looking at her fashion that she is strongly influenced by Africa. In 2008, she started educational support activities for children in Kenya, Africa. She founded Child Africa, a non-profit organization that aims to support the education of children around the world.
