Hands down. Paco de Lucía, born in mu city, the best guitarist ever. I wish everyone were able to understand what they are singing about. Even for Spaniards, understanding Andalusian in this context is quite hard.

The man who sang was not a cantaor/singer, he was the most impressive voice in the entire history of Spanish music. There you see nuances that the slaves learned in America, from Spanish music, that I can identify in blues, in jazz, in shoul. Thanks again for reacting to this.You were touching the point when you said that the expressive quality of the singing goes beyond the words in the lyrics.In fact some of the verses ain´t sad but you can even get the depth of the connection with his feelings.An old flamenco singer was asked why he sang and he answered: "I sing because I´m remembering what I´ve been through in my life",so this expression is a huge part of flamenco. i´m Spanish, the Flameco music style is one of the best thing in Spain, mix etnics like arabic, african, spanish, mediterranean things and obviously the most important...a Indú base, because the Gitanan etniac people comes from, originaly camed from India (indian) people...this mix is beatiful, a lot of sensitiviy...get you to another sensitive place....i´m grateful you can apreciate this... At the intro PAco de Lucia say: Eh, at that time i was on the night playing, in some places, and Camaron too, and then we closed together because we meeted and we played all the day and all the night, i was shocked at that time... and i was impressed. I think Camaron is a revolucionary guy about young Flamenco style ( at that time in 1976)....i´m not the best Flamenco listener...but i could ear Camaron all the fucking day and the best thing is that i will not bother his songs...never....because...maybe are pure...

The interesting thing about flamenco is that it is a style of music that includes up to 50 styles (Sevillanas, Fandangos, Seguiriyas, Soleares, Bulerías, Rumbas, Tangos). In most of its styles, flamenco is a deep cante and the vocal variations in the same word are called "Quejios" which we could translate into English as lamentations.
