A nesting peahen hatches 9 peachicks on a sunny day in June. Taken at the L.A. County Arboretum in 2018.

peacocklover27 Hi! She is very very good! I tried to get close to her but she is scared and will probably fly away. Her nest is under some bushes. How are you? How are the peacocks?:)) Did you saw any peacock flying in this period?:))

The peacocks are fine...they are still displaying. I see peacocks flying down from roost every morning. I am very sad because a few of the peahens have lost their chicks to other mothers. The peahen with 9 chicks now has 13 because other chicks come running to join all the chicks when they see them, and there's nothing the other peahens came do to stop this. One peahen lost her 3 chicks and another peahen lost 2 and still another peahen lost all her chicks to a different mother. It makes me very sad because the peahens loved their chicks so much and they are very sad without them.
