I can't be sure about Latvia, but in Ukraine/Russia until today people are selling/buying serious, expensive things (e.g. houses/cars) mostly for dollars, not for hryvnia/rubles. Respectively, same can be said about bribes.

My beloved youth year animations! Creators of "Avārijas Brigāde" episodes often mixed international slang in funny latvianized way. At 3:26 guy in a car hit a chicken and said "Kiš, Hasta la vista". "Kiš" is latvianised Russian word "киш" which in English mean "shoo". "Vista" in Latvian translates to "chicken" in English. And you most likely know the "Hasta La Vista" quote from T2 movie. All together in English is "Shoo! Good bye, chicken!". We in Latvia when viewed AB episodes, laughed our socks off.
